Sails Restaurant reviews
67My wife and I had a wonderful date night at Sails, great location, great food, great service! Highly recommended!
Exceptional food with very good service to boot. Had their famous crayfish and it indeed was amazing. It's also quite nice to enjoy in a group that is new to the item.
More recently I have returned and tried their signature 6 course menu. This is an excellent option for those unsure what to order. It really showcase a range of amazing dishes they serve. Highly recommend.
Thankyou Sails for your service and excellent food. I also want to thankyou for accomodating our particular approach to be as close to being normal as possible! You know what I mean. Thankyou again.
A great experience in sail restaurant. The oysters are so fresh, the lambs are really tender, the breads right out of the oven, and the CRUDO that ELLIOT recommend is so good, you must try! We love the feeling of having meal here. Will come back again!
Divine seafood and exceptional service at Sails Restaurant. We went for their lunch Bluff Oyster special which was a dozen for $36. We booked ahead so we're given a table by the window which gave us stunning view of the water and harbour bridge
Upon arriving at the restaurant my first interaction with the staff was uncomfortable and set a precedent for the remainder of the meal. Starting with my date and I walking up to the host counter and informing them we had a reservation. Instead of verbally responding the woman made a rude hand gesture indicating she needed more information - I felt it was pretty rude given the level of service of this restaurant. This continued through out the meal as she helped run food to the table. Two passive aggressive comments were made to us again, one about us sharing a meal, that was out of line.
Maybe she was having a bad day, but we spent $300 there and expected a bit higher level of service. The service from the waiter was great and the food was good, but we never felt ceomfortable after our initial interaction.
Lunch at Sails was a delightful experience. There's nothing better than eating deliciously presented and beautiful food in a casual restaurant.
Can never get enough! Food is so good. Quite pricey but location, service and everything about this restaurant keeps me coming back for moreTook some work friends and family there to experience and they too loved it! Don’t forget to leave a tip for the lovely waiter. He’s always so nice!
Sitting above Westhaven Pier and looking out over the Harbour Bridge, this has to be one of the best dinner views in town. The food is great, the service is not up to the standard of previous visits, but its covid and staffing could be better.
5 stars for Riley and his great customer service. Thank you Riley for making it a good one, much appreciated.
It was absolutely fabulous. The food was great anf beautifully presented and the staff were wonderful.
Sails is a favourite, consistently top marks. The waiting staff are excellent, attention to detail. Check-in and check-out could be better, but the chef makes up for it; recommend the seafood, especially the bouillabaisse, and the desserts.
Best service in New Zealand from the reservation to the dining experience. Was too engrossed in the food, the wine and the scenery to take any photo of the dishes. We went there for a Valentine's day dinner. It was nothing short of AMAZING! Thank you Renee and team.
Sails is one of my all time favourite restaurants for fine dining - a lovely relaxed atmosphere, the menu is outstanding and the staff are professional and polished but down to earth - The restaurant staff went out of their way to accommodate my wishes (which unfortunately kept changing due to ever changing circumstances) but they were gracious. I cannot recommend Sails enough - outstanding view of the marina and harbour bridge - had a magical Christmas dinner with all our family AAAAA+
Excellent food and evening, spoiled by being charged two bottles of wine instead of two glasses. When we obviously got a little upset the person checking us out commented - we're not Robots" - we thought rather rude and unnecessary. Such a shame - not even an apology! Sails you have a much better reputation - this employee let you down!
Friendly and helpful staff. Had the sampler menu and everything was as expected. High quality and tasted delicious. Wait times between dishes not too long and diligent staff topped off water glasses regularly.
Great service. Amazing edible creations. Accommodating with my partner's citrus allergy and dietary requirements as she is pregnant. Amazing views. Perfect dining experience and a great range of wines, beers and cocktails too.
We had the best time here on Xmas day. Renee who took our booking was an absolute delight to deal with and even nicer meeting her in person on the day.
We had the most amazing table facing the water and the food was outstanding.
Our waiter was polite and not once did we have to ask for a drink.
We would highly recommend coming back!
Top of the range restaurant
Beautiful setting.
Delicious food.
Friendly qualified staff.
A good and comfortable dining experience. Nothing extraordinary, but also nothing even remotely bad. In short, "fine dining" but not aiming at a Michelin star.
