The Portland Public House

This is a regular favourite for after work drinks. They always have delicious cocktails and a really nice outside area to enjoy on those warm summer nights.
Live music is a great and their burger deal is always great value.

The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful. They serve their gin cocktails with extra tonic. Highly recommend the mac and cheese balls.

Really Bohemian in nature. The vibe is chill and laid back. A stone throw from Eden Park. Great place for a beer and burger with your buddies.

This place was great! Food here is excellent, tasty, and also well priced! This place has a great feel too. Staff super nice and great service. They also have live music some nights.

That $6 burger deal is too good to pass up! Really great burgers for that price, and you can get it every day from 4 to 7pm. Wicked garden bar too, one of the few places you can drink outside in winter near Kingsland.

Five stars for food, burger and steak excellent. Very warm and cozy atmosphere. Table did feel a touch sticky however, perhaps needed a wipe down:)

Great food, could have used more seasoning though. One staff member on at lunch time so ordering was a bit of a process.

Great place to have a beer, listen to good live music and have great conversations. Great choice of cocktails and craft beer as well.

We went to the Portland Public House for my granddad's 'retirement age' party and I was pleasantly surprised by the general all-round service.

Staff were quick and attentive, but didn't annoy us with overly-frequent table visits; the food was exceptional given the price and the facility was well laid out and tidy. The garlic bread starters were great (albeit $9, which is a fair price), the wine selection was fair (I took on the Stoneleigh Pinot Noir) and the Burger was phenomenal given the price (sub $25 including fries for a solid serving, good flavours and presentation).

The waitresses were very pleasant and informative regarding menu items, house keeping queries and were very tolerant of our frequent order changes.

All-in-all, it's a great value and we will definitely be returning for casual dining. The Portland Public House would serve as a great 'regular' for anyone closeby.

Stumbled across this bar and was gobsmacked once I got through the door. It doesn't look much from the outside but inside is like the tardis; there is even a large beer garden out the back. Very good selection of beers on tap at very reasonable prices. Staff are very friendly, quick to serve and help with questions.

My favourite place to meet friends, stop off en route or after a game at Eden Park, or even better to check out some live music. $6 burger special is great value. The team are welcoming and friendly, which all adds up to good times at the Portland Public House! Keep up the great work!

Went to check out some live music (ButterButter IV) and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
I would recommend time and time again.

Awesome place, always have a band playing when I've been. Very packed though, so not great if you are uncomfortable with someone breathing down your neck or busting through the crowd and spilling beers to get to the toilet.

Nice burgers and cheap if you go during burger happy hour, beers a bit expensive however I suppose that's what to expect in Akl

Love this spot for a bite to eat and drinks too, favourite is the boysenberry gin cocktail and the buffalo wings.

SPECIAL $6.00 Burgers from 4-7pm everyday usually $11.00.yummy as 5 different flavours. Good size too.

Turns out reasonably priced burgers double in price if there is a game in Eden Park. Guess I'll be going somewhere else then.

Probably the best afternoon bar around. Cause it has the "old school" corner bar feel to it. But with a far more hip way of delivering it.
