Umu Pizza reviews
71The best pizza place around! Not only is the food really really good, but the staff are amazing and it’s always got a good vibe. This is one of my go-to spots and will continue to be for as long as they’re making pizza. Basically anything you order will make your life better.
Best pizza in Kingsland by far, if not all of Auckland. They do a perfect sourdough crust. Love their happy hour deals.
Best pizza in Auckland! Sourdough perfection.
Nice and friendly staff, warm atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
Absolutely amazing pizza & service. We were celebrating my partner's birthday over the weekend and were blown away. The owner and staff made him feel special and really exceeded all expectations. We've come a few times before and every time the pizza & service has been fantastic. Can't wait for our next visit:)
Great pizza, number 5 and 6 are a must! Fun busy atmosphere and a nice selection of cocktails. Not a huge space so I recommend making a booking if you want to eat in. Luckily they do takeaways too and the timings provided over the phone or online are very accurate.
Very nice place and good pizzas. However more signature ones rather then those you are used to i guess. A bit burned dough.
Good place to go with mates. Great place to go while on your way to Eden Park on matchdays! I've had the margarita pizza a couple times. Both have been outstanding. A must go!
Disappointed.they gave us very small table which wasn't enough for two people.also we booked through First table and the guy still wanted to charge us full price.we gave him Restaurant Association gift card and guy didn't know how to use and we ended up paying cash.staff should be more educated and friendly.
Up there with the best pizza restaurant/pizza I've had I reckon. Dry chili flakes are the absolute business.
Quite nice, and not too bready. Bit thin for my liking - really had to use a knife and fork to eat it.
Fantastic pizzas with delicious, well thought out toppings and tasty crust. Have lived in Kingsland only three days and have been here twice already!
Favourite pizza in Auckland. Sourdough base + truffle oil as an extra on everything please. We had the 7 and the 3 with mushrooms
A new favourite of ours! This is really well done pizza and beer. Nice casual atmosphere, there is a restaurant side and a smaller bar side. Their pizza's as far as I know are unique in Auckland for being woodfired sourdough. The woodfire cooking technique is authentic. I was slightly skeptical of a sourdough pizza but it works really well. I highly recommend Umu.
Good pizzas and bases, a little pricey for what you get but staff awesome, and the vibe is great.
Best pizza I've had so far in NZ, maybe ever. Was really busy when we were there but the staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. There is a connecting bar which has some top notch spirits and a great cocktail selection. Awesome vibe, cool music, friendly staff and incredible pizza! Really fun to watch the pizza chefs prepare and cook your pizza right in front of your eyes. If you are a pizza lover, this place is a must. Hope to come back soon.
Honestly best pizza I’ve ever had - the sourdough base is incredible. Fun atmosphere, friendly service - ticks all the boxes. Highly recommend
This is a pizza I am still thinking about 2 days later. It was really, REALLY good. Familiar Italian ingredients, but not your standard Italian menu. We got the "number 8" with portobello mushrooms, porchetta and pecorino and it was absolutely glorious. Pizza's were priced fairly, it was just the price of the drinks that left me a bit shocked - my $12 chardonnay felt like two sips worth haha. I'll go for a beer next time! Really friendly and accommodating staff too. Can't wait to come back to try the other pizzas on the menu.
My husband and I went to Umu Restaurant last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, what a fantastic choice of restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. The food was superb and we loved every mouthful, what made the occasion even more memorable was the service, William you were professional, friendly and very accommodating, thank you.
We felt we could have been sitting in a lovely restaurant in the city.
On another note, we loved the decor, in particular the prints.
Walking through the door you're greeted by the friendly staff at the front making pizzas and cooking them in a huge wood fired oven. It's not just pizza, there is an adjoining bar with craft beers on tap and top notch spirits. Pizzas are just numbered because of they're not your usual toppings. It makes for a hard choice because they all sound fantastic. And they taste just as good as they sound - absolutely delicious and made with quality ingredients.
