Waitakere Refuse and Recycling Centre reviews
55Just went to drop off excess cardboard recycling. Wasn't aware you had to wear enclosed shoes, so had to go home to get some and come back, but all good. Was told by one lady when I got there (as stipulated on the website) that the first 20kg of cardboard is free, the cost thereafter is dependent on the weight. However, another lady who charged me on my way out (after my vehicle was weighed again), did not deduct the 20kg, so I paid for the full weight. Didn't notice until I'd left, so not happy about that. Otherwise the staff are nice and overall it wasn't a bad experience:)
Friendly and professional staff, helpful and i was lucky to dump for free coz their computers were down.
Been before. The covid 19 QR codes could do with a 2021 update. Doesn't work so went to manual? Other than that there was stuff I needed and probably stuff I didn't need but.well.
I feel it was very expensive, 3 bags of leaves and 3bags of general rubbish.there was no room for discussion it cost $25 which I thought was very expensive, the guy / girl was very matterfact, and expected it to be paid.and quite annoyed when I challenged the cost. Most times it was $6 Ehy the incresse? Not happy all round.
Worthwhile going there. Got stations set up for metal, glass, hazardous stuff, household, etc.
Got rid of sealed battery, and Wifey took re - usable items that can be resold at their shop
No bargains today but there is other days. After pc parts alas empty handed I leave today, to come back another day. Good resource and use of 3 Rs. Reuse, refurbish, and recycled
One of my favorite places to visit. Ignore the smell but busk in the upcycling and giving goods a second lease at life. Clothes, toys, household goods, tools, paint, beds, they have it all. Cheap and affordable. Gives planet earth time to recover too.
Needed to get rid of some cracked mirrors and glass table tops. Easy process, reverse up to the gate and throw it in! The people were very friendly, and much cheaper than we thought. Only $8.50 for 2 large mirrors and 2 glass table tops.
Great place to get rid of in wanted items. A place for everything sorted, metals, general rubbish, green rubbish, paints and oils etc
Hi. It's the right place to dump your organic and non organic waste. The prices have recently risened and my dumping today for garbage cost me 36 NZD. I think that's expensive but lets be a clean and tidy Kiwi shall we.
It is a wonder anyone can dump rubbish there. Health and safety over the top. Hollier than thou attitude.
I cannot beleive how helpful this team were. We went there with a large tandem axle trailer, figureing it would take the 2 of us over 1/2 an hour to empty it. As we backed up, the boys stopped us and said "that looks like hard work go around again and go to gate 4, bro"
They then used a digger to unload us in 5 minutes! He even used a mattress to sweep off the deck! They were fantastic!
Excellent. The staff were great at clearing the rubbish & sweeping the path, making it easy & safe for the public
Helpful and friendly staff but the entrance is confusing if it is your first time. Enter through the weighbridge lane (the right lane). Once through, if you're not going to gate 1, keep left to pass gate 1 even if the sign says turn right for other gates. From there the signs become much more clearer. And remember to wear closed shoes
Staff were excellent but the traffic management was abysmal. They need to sort out traffic flow
Was charged $28 to donate household goods and drop off paper recycling! It's worth looking for other solutions. People shouldn't be charged this much for being responsible citizens.
Can get very busy so best to check before you go if your in a hurry, strict closing of entry 3.45pm needs to be taken into account, thumbs up for service.
Very dissapointing arrived 30 mins before closing Slow service and big queues Were told cant go in Wasted 1.5 hours travel round trip and trailer hire
Hit and miss with this place. You can take a car boot load and be charged per KG, which is at a good price, or you can go the next day and be charged a flat rate for a 20kg drop off. There should be no minimum charge, should be per KG only so is fair. They seem to charge what ever they just fell like. What happen is people will end up just trowing waste in their general bins at home. How can you pay for a 120l bin 3.95 but get charged for 21 for 20kg of grass? Well, grass now goes into the 3.95 bins!
Your trading hours suggest you are open. Have been waiting outside locked gates with other customers for over an hour.
