Decided to try here for a change. Very nice food, well presented. Shoestring fries with the aioli were very nice as was the Slow-roasted beef bagel with sweet and sour pickles, grilled cheese and sticky balsamic mustard and Breakfast burrito bowl, achiote baked beans, avocado, spiced potato, scrambled egg, pico de gallo, crispy tortilla and sour cream. Staff friendly and attentive. Coffee served was good. Well recommend here albeit a little more expensive than local cafes, but food was way nicer.

We stopped by here for breakfast and were really impressed. The staff were really warm and welcoming. We’d clearly hit the peak hour as all tables were busy but the staff were able to accommodate us until a table became free.

The food was delicious and the portion sizes were huge! Lovely coffee too.

I’d definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Eggs Benedict and a cappuccino.yum, food quality excellent.and supporting the local water crisis by using paper plates and cups to reduce water usage.wat a great place to my out of town work colleges.

Experience was super disappointing here. Sought this out after seeing good reviews but everything felt lackluster. Obviously a huge weekend for Gisborne cafes but the service was so poor, the young blonde girl who served us was extremely unprofessional and disinterested. Food was average, although for $20 I would hope the meals would have all advertised ingredients. After waiting an hour for our food, some kindness and understanding from the staff would have made a long morning so much better.

My food was nice but they were really rude and the blonde girl that served rolled her eyes at us and was extremely unfriendly and made it a very bad experience. They out tomato’s in my burger when I asked for no tomato’s which she said when I was paying. And someone I was with got the breakfast burrito with just didn’t have multiple Ingredients which they didn’t say and after spending 20 dollars it’s quite disappointing.

A short but nice menu. Unfortunately there was no customer service, the place is small and with a lot of noise from the kitchen. Just missing the right people looking after clients and providing a better experiences.

Service experience here, was a disappointment. One of the waitresses, pakeha blonde girl, was completely unbothered to be at work. No expression on her face. No warm greetings when bringing drinks or food. Even after saying thank you for the drinks and food she'd just dump it on the table and walk away. Noticed that she did this with the table next to us as well. Food and drinks were great, just unfortunate that the waitress looked like she rather be anywhere else but here. We have been here regularly, and her service was really off putting. If you have that attitude rather stay home, than ruin customers mornings with a grim attitude.

I regularly eat out for breakfast & the poached eggs on ciabatta with side of bacon & cold smoked salmon is probably best I’ve ever eaten. Salmon & bacon had amazing flavour, bright yellow egg yolks & great texture ciabatta. Good coffee too: I’ll be back!

This would have to be the worst place for breakfast I've ever been to. Very slack service. Not knowing how to cook eggs is a joke. Wouldn't even take my dog in there for a feed. Not recommended to anyone.

Long walk from hotel to find breakfast. No big breakfast just had to add on extras and sausages were very dry.

I sought out this cafe as a visitor to Gisborne, based on other reviews that it was the best cafe. Everything on the menu sounded fantastic and I was looking forward to the spicy chicken Vietnamese pancake with coriander and crunchy slaw. I was worried that the chicken might be too spicy but instead it was bland, the slaw was similar to what you buy in the supermarket in a bag and there was no coriander whatsoever.
The service and coffee were good. I let the cafe know that the food was disappointing, they said they have a new chef.

I first went to Flagship Eatery a couple of years ago and had one of the most memorable brunches of my life. I've been gagging to go back, but I'm sad to say my expectations were not met second time around when we attended on Saturday afternoon.
While we do allow for covid-related staff shortages etc, there were plenty of staff on for end-of-day service. We were greeted with no warmth when we walked in, and throughout our lunch.
We ordered our lunch, and waited 45 minutes for our food to show. The staff didn't engage with us when we politely asked if our food would be coming soon, offered no additional service (asking about the meal, apologising for the delay etc) and while the food was delightful, the service really tainted the experience.
Unfortunately it was a really uncomfortable lunch, which was a shame after the initial experience a few years back.

Great lunch. Several options. Good staff. Can be noisy for sound impaired people. Adequate parking. Would use again.

Nice decor. They change their menu often. Food were good and they serve good coffee here with choice of oats milk too.

Initial warm greeting on entrance however not a pleasant experience from then on. Another waitress seated us and proceeded to take our drink order first then return to take our food order. Ordered a large flat white and earl grey. Out came a SMALL flat white and an earl grey. Waitress did not return after that to take our food order.

The waitress and other waitresses did not approach us to take our food order and only got our food order in after having to flag the waitress over. Initially, we were one of the first to be seated but by this time, all other tables got their orders in by this point.

Food ok. Felt the experience at the flagship was let down by one waitress unfortunately after reading such good reviews. Did not return the next day.

Possibly one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in ages. Huervos rancheros with super smokey beans and fab chorizo. Staff left some great Mexican sauces to add to brekkie.
Lovely service from staff who saw I was working and offered the wifi code. A quiet place to do a bit of work whilst having breakfast. Will definitely be back and I would recommend!
