Coffee was cold and weak. Sausage roll was cold. We were here with two families and spent well over 60 dollars. When our children returned with tank smoothies (as the restaurant did not sell smoothies or ice chocolates) the owner rudely kicked them out and then ask them to move on when they sat outside. Very rudely done. Won't go here again and recommend you don't either.

Great food, friendly service, very professional presentation.

The breakfast menu is interesting and has options for all tastes. The coffees were large and perfectly made.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Zest for breakfast or brunch.

The brekkie was good, I had eggs bene with salmon and coffe for around 25$. Nevertheless, what I think to be quite likely the owner/manager came to me shortly after I finished my meal. I was working on my laptop, and I was asked to leave citing "Covid procedures", which of course was just an excuse, since I had just noticed that there were no more seats and there were other people seemingly waiting for a table inside. I understand social distancing reduces the chance of accommodating customers, and therefore lowers the revenue, but I think the customer should anyway be let free to work on his laptop after his breakfast, assuming that he paid a fairly consistent bill. The request was also made in a quick and cheap manner, which added to the overall perception of being treated rudely.

Excellent food, coffee and service with a smile. Reasonable prices, good selection, and the friendly staff were happy to adapt menu items for a gluten intolerant family member. Highly recommended.

Came for an early morning breakfast, and was pleasantly surprised but not only the good service, but they also cooked my bacon perfectly. The pancakes were a treat, thanks very much!

Best catering in town. We were here for work and over a few days tried a few options. The food from Davie and the zest team was head and shoulders above the rest.
For me this meant primarily freshness - other catering was clearly not made fresh that morning. Davie's food was made that morning, without question.
This also meant ingredients. The wraps were overflowing with healthy greens and the feta spinach pie was packed with flavour. Best I've ever had - there was no filler - you can tell the recipe's haven't been altered to maximize profit at the expense of taste.
Clearly a team that take pride in their food, and I'll go straight here for catering in future.

Lovely little cafe in the town centre. Warm greeting and a good choice of food. Went for the pancakes which were delicious and the coffee was good too. Staff were friendly and chatty.

Coffee was mediocre. Somehow each bacon slice had one end that was overcooked and one that was undercooked. The multigrain ciabatta was weird. Eggs were cooked too hot so the underside was chewy. Sausages were good. Overall don't recommend.

Caught this place just before they closed quite early - around 1pm, so check their opening hours (it was also a public holiday). Had a very tasty roast vegetable, quinoa and feta salad and a very good pot of Earl Grey.

Nice, friendly, easy to find, and great location. We enjoyed sitting outdoors watching the street life. Our breakfasts were average and filling and on the whole I would reccomend Zest Cafe

First time visitor. Appreciated nice food and coffee. A smile and a friendly welcome would have taken this from three to four stars for me.

Service was friendly. Breakfast was okay. Pancakes were crumbly like scone rather than light and fluffy. Not much for kids or those seeking a basic breakfast such as toast.

Yummy food great service. I have chosen you as my number one of kiwi food lovers in Gisborne NZ. I live in Brisbane, Australia and nothing else compare to you. I am sitting inside today because I am a bit cold. My favourite hard to beat filling up my puku with delicious food.
