Because we saw a windmill in foxton we spent a homeschool day learning about them.
Then took the girls and paid to go upstairs. Really cool! Plus the Miller was working and he took a lot of extra time to explain each step in the process and show the girls (some was hands on). Hugely appreciated and a great learning experience.
Bottom floor cute Dutch shop
1st floor Dutch games and seating
2nd floor flour storage and bagging
3rd floor grinding stones etc for mill

A wonderful choice of Dutch cheese made in Holland along with some made in NZ using Dutch recipes. Olives are beautiful my choice is the chili. You also have Dutch foods, licorice, biscuits and the like so many things to look at not to Mention the wonderful windmill.
Staff lovely and helpful.
I go each time I'm in Foxton but if you are just passing through its worth Stop

THE place to visit in Foxton, other than the nearby beach. The adjacent museum is also amazing. The shop on the ground floor has a good selection of Dutch items. The windmill is active and you can buy its flour (but it'll cost you!), and the floors upstairs are the best part and great for kids.

It’s a great place to stop and play some Dutch games, stock up on windmill grown organic flower and Percy pig knockoffs.

Cool windmill right in the middle of town when we were there some sort of event was going on with free games and food was there along with the local radio station and a nice place to sit and enjoy a Foxton Fizz in Foxton.

First time to Foxton and we were not aware of the Windmill.
This Dutch replica Windmill is worth the time to visit and learn of the mechanisms. A family operated Windmill. The visit to the top and see the mechanisms cost $3 per person or $10 for family of 4.

Hands down the best gluten free and dairy free orange and almond cake I’ve ever had. Moist, orangy and with the bitey texture of slivered almonds. Had it passing through going to and from the South Island. Not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that they are 400+ km from where I live, but will definitely be back next time we are near Foxton.

Stroopie Waffles and lots of other goodies. Nice woman behind the counter told me about stroopie waffles over coffee. Mmm

They still grind flour in this mill & yes it's available to the public. Just one of Foxtons main attractions. The beach is only 5 minutes away so well worth checking out Foxton.

Wow, impressive. I did an online order on Tuesday afternoon and it arrived on Thursday and we are at the bottom of the South Island. Really well packed and the handwritten thankyou on a postcard of the windmill is a lovely personal touch. Thank you, will be ordering more soon!

This is a unique place. They mill their own organic flour, by wind craft.

Lovely spot and a very unique experience. I have dutch heritage and enjoyed the detail put into this place. Going up the mill is a must. We were lucky to meet the mill operator on the platform he he was friendly and gave us so much more interesting stories.
