Frank Bar + Eatery reviews
60This bar was exceptional! Service was awesome, staff amazing and the food delicious! Thank you Frank bar + Eatery
Went for dinner, enjoyed the food and cocktail options. There weren't many vegetarian options food wise but what they did offer was enjoyable. Plenty of alcohol options with beers, wines and spirits/cocktails all available. The staff were excellent and did a great job considering how busy it was. Will definitely be going back, recommend checking the place out.
Absolutely the best food I've EVER had in Wanganui. And it's less than only a two hour ride from New Plymouth.
No real style, no proper entranceway, haphazardly put together, no soft surfaces so bitingly loud, lovely friendly staff, waited 90 minutes for 2 pizzas and left, walked around the town, FINALLY got our order with an apology and cash refund. Wouldnt EVER go back but dont feel bitter.
Great atmosphere in this place, the staff are friendly. The food is constantly good here as are the cocktails.
This Wellington or Auckland CBD type venue, very nice fit out and bar. Well worth a visit.if you are in party mood, later at night it is also a night club, so, you might be there a while.
First impressions counted.
Great atmosphere, good food n drinks.
Couches to relax on, outside area for those needing air (or dirty air ;) ) and a nightclub/dance side room for the younger or young at heart age group.
This is very nice cafe an eatery, alcoholic drinks with meals, or bar for just having drinks with friends an winding down after work.nice meals well presented.would go back again on date night.wifi also.
Very large venue. Garden bar was lovely in the late afternoon. Toilets were a challenge. (The sign marked for "ladies" led me to a cleaning closet. I ended up using the disabled toilet, as it was the only one I could find.) Drinks and meals were very good quality and beautifully presented, but overpriced. (Crispy skin duck should have *crispy* skin.) Menu was not marked with options for GF diets. On this Saturday, the number of guests clearly took staff by surprise, and service became extremely slow and unreliable. Overall, would be unlikely to go back.
Stopped in town for meal on a Friday night heard great things. We waited a solid hour for our food. My partner had the bruschetta. The bread was stale and waffer thin. My seafood linguine was good but out of the 4 mussels one was not open so it was dead or uncooked. (simple for a chef to check)
All in all maybe it might be good on a quiet weekday but Friday night it's more of a drunken paradise
Gave us sugar bar snacks of whatever we wanted and made the most amazing cocktails. Total winner!
We arrived in Whanganui for a stopover en-route to Tongariro. We stumbled upon Franks Bar & Eatery by accident. It’s in a magnificent old bank building on Victoria Avenue. The service was exemplary, the beer by George & Co excellent and the food really delicious. We shared a starter, main and dessert which was plenty for us. It has live music on the weekend.
We had a few beers and a burger each. The service was fantastic, the beer one of the best I've ever had and the burger finished it off. Very good!
Burgers are a good size and good price. Main meals eg lamb, beef etc overly expensive. Nice set up, amazing service. Our waitress made the whole experience! Extremely professional.
Staff are caring and efficient. Happy genuine intelligent bar staff. Security staff are helpful.
I really rate this place! Awesome food great service and inviting atmosphere. Can definitely recommend as the place to go!
High prices. Food ok. Drinks are high priced, cocktails are delicious. Floor is sticky, needs industrial floor covering. Odd this hasn't been fixed in so long. Dark. Friendly staff. Lovely old building outside. Door charges are steep!
Overall decent place for a gig, the echoey acoustics of the building seem to have been rectified with strategically positioned hanging curtains. However, the size of the bar is a major bottleneck and makes for a lot of waiting to get a drink, which aren't really worth the wait (was more mass-production style quick-mix drinks available, no cocktails). A major shortcoming was the lack of obvious bins around so the floor quickly turned into a perilous concrete swamp littered with discarded cans and plastic party cups. Despite all this - got to see Carl Cox play there! Which was epic. So all the other complaints are totally worth it, and can be disregarded if you're going there to see a class act
Frank's Eatery is a great place! Had eggs for breakfast and buckwheat pancakes - they use very fresh ingredients and have a good menu! A must go to for healthy and gluten free food options too.
Staff we Jess and Daehee met were a pleasure and service was 5 stars thank you:)
My sister and I love this place. The bar chick is friendly as and makes the best margaritas! The seafood platter was delicious. Made for an awesome evening. Always talking about going back.
