Urban Oyster Bar & Eatery

We have been visiting Urban since it opened and have never been disappointed until now. This was our first since it was sold. Service was below average had to ask for cutlery, water and napkins. Food was nothing like the standard it has been in the past. Menu has all the favourites missing and the sliders we order were much smaller than previous and only two when you used to get three! Urban were well known for the atmosphere, incredible dishes and service all of which were sadly missing.fingers crossed things improve

I was really disappointed by the experience here. Felt incredibly rushed, with all the small plates that we ordered arriving very quickly one after the other. The food was okay but overhyped and overpriced. Our meal was over in a blink and we left feeling unsatisfied.

A good evening, let down by a couple of exceptionally rude staff (mainly the female) who could benefit from customer service training. Might also be of use to update the eatery hours online.

I chase oysters wherever we go since the Sydney fish markets. These guys do so well shucking fresh oysters instore and cooking a few different way. King of snake in Christchurch also worth a nudge

I was impressed. Delicious food, the best I've eaten in new Zealand. Super friendly staff, especially the waiter who served us, he gave us some recommendations that we followed. Beautiful decoration, set with good music. A perfect combination. Definitely we will come back.

The food here is amazing and with the open kitchen you get to watch the chefs at work. Definitely recommended for date night, a good family outing or a catch up with friends. Check this place out!

Fantastic food. Interesting with no pretence and topped off with a tasting plate (paddle) of beers. Service was friendly and efficient with staff making sure we had a great night. (The samba popcorn was to die for.get in while they still serve it)

Had a fantastic experience last week, we had the special dish of the day a well seasoned and tasty corn cob. Great and very knowledgeable staff who were able to inform and cater for dietary requirements well. The sliders were a hit and the raw fish ceviche was delicious.

Great friendly staff. Definitely going back for the oysters. It’s a bit pricy but the food was so so tasty. The cheesecake desert was creative but not what I had in mind when I ordered cheesecake—it was the consistency of whipped cream.

Great craft beer on tap! Especially the Dude imperial white Russian Stout, by Behemoth! And at 570ml for $12, Wow! Better than Auckland prices, and sizes!

Outstanding menu and innovative presentation. Whow each dish had explosive flavor and freshness! We had the sashimi, beef brisket and pumpkin, and seasonal vegetables with a great Otago Pinot noir. Traveling from Vancouver Canada in New Zealand for the past month. We have loved the farm and sea to table cuisine throughout but this was the BEST!

We started with the oysters and, excellent as they were, every other dish surpassed them. We shared four other dishes between two of us and were quite full. Variety to suit every taste, I strongly recommend this restaurant! Every dish i eat came with a new and special taste. Many thanks also to friendly and funny personal who made us a very nice evening!

A restaurant like in a big city, interesting food, great service, the hottest restaurant at this time in Nelson. Highly recommended.

Lovely sitting out in the sunshine enjoying a wine and some shared plates off the menu. I wasnt a massive fan of the sliders which were dense and dry but the salmon carpaccio was so good.

Seems cool, menu looked good. Staff was friendly getting us a table while really busy. Only problem was nobody would take our order. Even after asking for someone to take our order, no love. After watching other people getting seated and order immediately taken we decided to leave after getting no service: (

This place is great. We had an amazing dinner last night and ordered the sashimi twice because it was that good. The management is excellent. The table service is on point. The chefs are all passionate about thier craft and it shows. 5 stars - keep up the great service.

Very impressed by this spot. It can be busy, but two of us squeezed in to a spot immediately. Food wasn't cheap, but was unique, well crafted and delicious. Highly recommended.
