The Cove Cafe reviews
82Food is good but definitly overpriced. Polite staff. Although the tables were kept clean the general decor aluminium joinery could do with a good clean. In my opinion this place should not rate more than a B rating.
I bought food and coffee at the Cove Cafe to get some energy to finish my very long walk. That burger and lemon pie saved me, and they were so good. Next time I go there, I will sit and enjoy them properly
Absolutely top notch in every way. Thank you for such friendly staff, (Benedict) great atmosphere, delicious food and great views. It doesn't leave much! Bless you all heaps.
Great meal here, better than I remembered, super fresh ingredients, all meals in our group were thumbs up, pretty good wine list and fantastic views
Amazing service and beautiful food the special line caught fish on seafood chowder was so good!
Absolutely brilliant meals, the chips were hot and crunchy just how I like them. Really busy cafe but the service was prompt and staff friendly. The burgers were huge and great value.
Lovely bustling spot in Waipu, although the interiors are starting to get a bit tired. Took a while to be served, was moderately busy. Flavours were good food-wise, albeit the execution was slightly off. We had the potato rosti which was a bit eggy to be a true rosti, but came with a delicious lemony creme chevre. We also had the breakfast burger gluten free - everything in this was absolutely perfect, but the GF bread was terrible quality. They charge $5.50 for swapping to GF bread which is daylight robbery, although they did reverse this charge for us. Coffee was okay.
Can be pretty busy, so larger parties may want to book in advance. Good menu for brunch or lunch we found. Has high chairs for kids, but no play areas, just tabled areas. Some of the seating overlooks the beach.
Pricing for food is mid range I would say, and the coffee is excellent. Not much parking on the premise, but parking across the road at the beach area.
Delicious Budha Bowl A+staff lovely ambience.delightful conversation with man who chose to sit beside me with the nice Porsche.
SO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS. The options were overwhelming I couldn’t choose. The vegan patch pizza was amazing. The vegan cheese was delicious and the pizza was loaded. The eggplant was really good too, I thought the menu said tempura so it was disappointing that it was only tempura chips. The cocktails are amazing and our server was so funny and so energetic. Can’t wait to go back.
Wow, so please try the Hong Kong phooey. Pizza. 100% guaranteed to please. We all loved it, sort of peking duck on a pizza. Delicious
Ah what a disappointing experience my partner and I had during our relaxing holiday adventure at The Cove Cafe. I received a phone call from family shortly after the two of us were seated. A few minutes into the call we were rudely interrupted by one of the service staff asking us to take our call elsewhere. How ridiculous and absurd during a time where it’s often the only way we could engage with our loved ones. After this and paying a $100 for our 2 plates of food and 2 drinks, it left nothing but a sour taste in our mouths. We’ll never go back. Look forward to visiting the hospitable places around.
Great experience, staff were all working hard to satisfy a huge number of people in spite of the heat (and flies!). This place is on the expensive side, but with a view like that, you can hardly complain. Coffee was slightly burned but overall we had a great snack.
Yum food, and good service. A little pricier than your average cafe, but food portions are pretty decent.
The food was good and the place is nice, but the main reason I'm giving 5 starts is because of amazing Anna, she was incredible! Lovely and super friendly with my friends and I.
Lovely bar/restaurant along seafront. Not a huge amount of choice on menu but was good what they did do
Great menu with so many different options. The raw fish was lovely and the duck was so flavourful
Great location and delicious menu options. Ordered the waffles for brunch which were a tad too sweet for my palet with the sugar syrup but still enjoyed them! Smoothies were nice too. Good prices and friendly attentive staff.
Disappointing and overpriced - $13 for a few pieces of lettuce in a box! (grain salad). Rather loud and abrupt welcome (or not) as you first approach the door "Do you have a Vaccine pass? " "Vaccine passes please" like you are entering a carnival ride - rather off putting
Was packed, but the friendly staff found a us a table promptly. Food came quick and it was exceptionally tasty. Very good experience overall and we would defiantly be back.
