The Cove Cafe

It was nice to finish a hot day sitting on a veranda for a meal with an onshore breeze bringing refreshment.the food was very good. I enjoyed the cocktail &the service was friendly & unobtrusive

Most disappointing today as a previous customer. I ordered the lamb shoulder and got a small plate of green sludge. When I spoke with the Manager he approached by saying "whats wrong with your food Mate? " I definately would expect better and is now removed from my BNB recommended list of places to go. Shame

Fabulous experience. Great vegan selection, perfectly cooked, friendly and helpful service, large selection of great craft beers. Why can't I give six stars?

Love this place. Best restaurant in Northland for a pizza and glass of IPA. Even better when they're not playing 'doof doof' music. Stick to the reggae beats Cove:)

Went last night for dinner, although they were really busy and we had no reservation they fit us in. Beautiful view and the best vegan meal I have had out in a while. They even have a vegan menu which is awesome. The service was good, got our cocktails promptly and our food. Thanks:)

Great location and iconic cafe for visitors and locals alike, so it is disappointing to leave a less than positive review. Service and quality of food have gone down hill since our last visit. A bit more attention to detail and customer service will have this place back to its former glory.

I went to this cafe with big group of friends to have brunch. Oysters, beef carpaccio and pouched eggs with guacamole - delicious! What else do you need after a few days at camping. Also should mention that they have a lot of waiters and hostess so the service is excellent.

On Friday the 12 November, I had the most bizarre and traumatic encounter I have ever had in a restaurant. I ordered fish and chips. The owner Lloyd took my order and told me it would be ready at 6: 05pm. I went for a walk on the beach and came back at 6: 15pm to pick up my order which I saw sitting there on the counter. I said I think that is my order. He screamed "I'll tell you when your order is ready! " I was shocked and before I could do anything, he ran over, grabbed the parcel and put it behind the till. He yelled at me over and over again "I will tell you when you order is ready! ". I was gob smacked. I didn't know what to do. I waited 20 minutes to get my order. Another customer witnessed this and was shocked and appalled as I was. I strongly advise you to avoid this establishment, as the owners clearly aren't interested in hospitality or customer service. After many years of supporting this business, I'll take my money elsewhere.

Nice place for a meal and quiet. So 4 years on, cove still great. Spring 2021 menu change, squid awesome, carparccio better than awesome.shablam!

Great spot, with great food and staff. When l booked l asked to sit somewhere warm as my wife hates the cold. Not only did they put us at a nice table, they even put a blanket on the chair. What a lovely personal touch. We stayed the night across the road at the camp ground, and went back for breakfast as well, which was also very nice. We highly recommend it.

We have been twice. Both times, the food an absolute disappointment. The location and service is lovely. But probably won't be back just for good service. ‍️ The hot chips are always on point tho.

Bought cup off coffee yesterday there

-feel exhausted.must be was to strong or x5 dose, no.won't buy anymore.

Meal OK. Wait staff lovely. Got up to go to the bathroom and got asked if I had a mask. Yup I should have put it on but forgot. Asked guy who asked where his mask was. He said he was the owner! Said I didn't think that excluded him. His response was he wasn't serving. He was behind an open food cabinet and in close proximity to customers and staff. I said I'm not serving either so all good. Lost our custom right there.

Some of our group x4, ordered seafood chowder and they all said it was yum. Some had pizza and liked it.

We got takeaways tonight fish chips house salad and a beef burger with aoli for 2. Was beautiful the only problem was i ordered an extra fish and extra chips (incase it was not enough) and i should not have was way tooo much but can have it as a late nite snack along with the yummy chocolate brownie. Super easy to order cupla minutes over the wait time lovely bubbly server outstanding service will definitely do it again.

This our favourite place. We come here time and time again for the great views across the ocean and relaxed atmosphere. It feels like you could be a world away on a tropical island with great food, cocktails and a good vibe

Great family restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast, and our dog could go too. Across the road from a beautiful beach. Friendly staff.
