The Pioneer Bar & Restaurant reviews
72Wow, such a great environment to relax, have a feed and a couple of cold ones. The bar staff are very friendly, and the service they provide is at the highest level of professionalism. The meals are generous, tasty and are priced nicely. Always something happening here if it's karaoke on Thursday, quiz night, dj or a band, they have something rocking every week. Well done, Tyler, Annette, and the crew.
Fabulous kid friendly environment. The bar and restaurant staff mad every effort to accommodate our needs.
I couldn’t recommend this place more! I brought a group of 25+ people for dinner and they all said it was great. I have some lovely lotion for a set menu due to our size and a very reasonable price. A big thanks to Emma for being so helpful during my planning stages. The pioneer was a wonderful place to come to!
If you like meat that melts in your mouth like butter this is the place to go. We didn't know what to expect but we're left turly satisfied when we left.
Brings back (good!) memories of traditional pubs n pool tables with an attached eatery. Staff were awesome. Great location on the Waipapa roundabout. Only open from midday (closed Mondays). Wish they served steak lol!
My best friends greg and Simon told me about this place and they were right, im lbhiq and the was no prejudice what so ever, I feel so liberated about my pioneer experience
We’ve been here twice and both times the menu had been severely limited by first Covid, and currently post-cyclone supply issues. The coffee machine was also broken this trip and there were no tea options. What they could provide, smaller pub plates, was nice. Would like to experience the restaurant at full blast as have heard it’s good
I love coming here. So relaxed. Try the Angus Bull Cab/Sav, it's delicious. A surprisingly good wine list for a small tavern.
Please, please can you add some healthy food to the menu! A dinner size salad, like a Cobb Salad, mixed salad etc? Thank you
Lovely little restaurant in Waipapa on the main road, parking was a little hard to find but there is plenty behind the restaurant. The service was lovely and although the menu was small they absolutely nailed the food that was on it. We had the lamb shank, pork belly, chicken and beef burgers and all were absolutely delicious. Full of flavor and beautifuly presented. Highly reccomend.
Nice bar with indoor area and garden bar area for drinks and food. A separate room for dining in with nice food. A couple of pool tables to smack the balls around with mates. It was karaoke night when I called in. Friendly staff and pretty sociable feeling
The food has been very good, i have had the Chicken burger and lamb Shank. Both are homley and wholsom.
First and last time 4 me. Didnt enjoy the food. I had the slow cooked pork belly. Apple sauce was cold. It was served on this weird dark sauce. It wasnt worth the 30 something bucks it cost and the amount of food was sad 4 what i paid.
My partner had the chicken burger. She was saying we should have had chicken and chips from 4 square. Would have been cheaper and more satisfying.
I also had the fish and chips. That wasnt bad but still. I dont recommend.
Took our daughter here for tea then stayed on to watch the MABs. Loved it. The food was hot delicious fresh and so yummy.
Stopped in on the way to the cape, a great place for a few beers, has pool tables, big screen tvs, lots of seating/space, food was excellent and the ambiance really suits the bar, really friendly staff and even had a nice chat with the owner Tyler, overall a 10 out of 10
Their food and non alcoholic beers for the sober driver. Ka Pai.love the Thursday evening Karioke evenings.lots of fun.
The food was overpriced for what you got and not enough flavours. Do not recommend the Slow cooked Scotch Fillet at $31 it was covered in sauce and more like an entree size. You couldn't even see the potato rosti it came with. The Lamb Shank had no flavour whatsoever.
Was a great place the staff were friendly we went there for my nephew's 18th lunch and the pizzas were superb also the chef brought out an awsome sunday for my nephew for his birthday it was so nice of them to do that. Would definitely go there again
Booked a table and rocked up feeling hungry and thirsty. Busy friendly pub vibe with lots of people in as it was pool and karaoke night.
Staff were friendly and obliging and we got a beer while perusing the menus. Macs Gold on tap was very nice and slid down easily.
I opted for Beefburger which came with fancy fries and Bobbie had the Slow Cooked Pork Belly with potato Rosti and vegetables. Both meals were delicious and were cleaned up completely. We will definitely be back and the hostess who served us bent over backwards to make sure we were happy with everything. She definitely went the extra mile!
Always a delicious meal here. Mark is a wonderful chef and the staff are awesome. Great to support our local
