Elegance at 148 on Elles Restaurant reviews
45We had our fill of oysters and they were DELICIOUS. Lovely old restored building and nice staff.
I would think this is one of the more expensive restuarants in Invercargill, and it is worth every cent! From the time you walk in you are met and served by friendly and helpful staff.
Firstly the food, we had a group of 8 and we could not fault any of the meals that were professional and pleasantly served. The chef also met many of the tables which was a great touch. I had the lamb rack which was cooked exactly as they should have been it was impeccable. This gentleman is certainly a chef and not a cook.
The restuarant is warm and unlike its name is topend casual and very relaxing. I do note, for elderly cutomers, that there are stairs to get to the 2nd floor where the dinning room is and the restrooms are back down the stairs. It was nice to have a more 'mature' atmosphere which was wonderful. At first I was not sure about the glass covers on the tables, unusally for fine dinning. As the night went on I discovered it was a great idea as I did not end up with my normal mess and stains on the white tablecloth!
I rate Elegance and recommend it highly. Best meal I have had in Invercargill and actually anywhere for quite some time.
Well done team you should be proud of your efforts - see you on my next visit to Invercargill for sure.:)
Great place, excellent service friendly and efficient. There was ten of us and everyone one raved about their meals. Food portions was bang on too. We'll be coming back soon.
Food was lovely and tasty, nicely presented and came out fast. Was expecting it to be more elegant to reflect the name but definitely not a bad place to eat if you want a good honest home cooked style meal.
Good taste but we waited too long… about 40 mins for my roast pork and cod… on a Monday evening…
Here tonite (22/03/21) for a meal for my wife's birthday.
Definitely not disappointed. Many thanks to the pleasant lady serving the tables and also to the chef.
The beef fillet I had and the lamb rack my wife had were both cooked exactly as they should have been and how we requested - impeccable.
Lots of flavors in the food, good wine, good atmosphere and good company.
I would rate Elegance highly and recommend it by all means.
Well done.
Would not hesitate to return.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious meals and awesome staff. Will definitely be recommending to everyone and Will definitely be back.
You can not fault this restaurant in any way. The food is divine. What I like even more is that the chef grows vegetables that he uses in the menu and he pays just as much attention to the vegetables in his dishes as he does to the meat. The staff are just wonderful as well, welcoming without being overbearing. If I could eat here every night I would have a standing reservation.
Probably the nicest restaurant in town. The price is high but it's worth it. Full, attentive service from arrival to departure and the food is perfect.
Still one of my favourite restaurants in Invercargill. Nice food great service and the place has a lovely atmosphere
Great food exceptional service. Must go food place. Put it on your must eat at list. And go often.
Fantastic atmosphere.wonderful food. Catered for gastric bypass diet.will definitely be going back!
Pricey, no atmosphere, but the glass of wine was the best I have had in a long time and the food was OK, (portion size was small and not enough vegetables).
Fine dining, but still casual. The restaurant is most of the upstairs of an old house. Great food with bigger than expected/necessary portion sizes. Great wine list and excellent menu options, done well. Just don't expect too many surprises. Good service, with the chef chipping in clearing tables on occasion. Let down slightly by the venue, but worth a visit.
Delicious food made from fresh, local produce. Really romantic and elegant ambience. The waitress who served us was very attentive and friendly. The perfect place for a special night out.
You have to try the desserts - they are really quite something. What surprised me most was the tea selection. I had the BlackBerry and cranberry syrup tea and it was by far the best tea I have ever had.
We had the most wonderful dining experience tonight. My mum who is partially sighted was personally assisted up and down the grand staircase by the owner /chef. The owners made us feel so welcome, the service and food top notch. The personal touches just made our night.
Excellent meal. Had the blue cod with saffron risotto and summer salad and it was both light and filling and quite delicious. Left just enough room for the vanilla ice cream with orange juice soaked cherries, chocolate sauce and Whitaker’s chocolate shaving dessert which was a perfect finish
Excellent
I booked a table with my wife who is vegetarian. Service and food was excellent. We enjoyed it. (We often visit Michelin rated restaurants. The standard here is good)
Amazing Service go the extra mile very helpful with a function. Food delicious first class! Lovely atmosphere with warm fire truely recommend will be back again.
Beautiful food and fantastic service. Couldn't fault it. And surprisingly reasonable when compared with some of the overpriced ILT establishments in town.
