Fat Bastard Pies reviews
32Expensive pies, but worth it as the pies were a good size and tasted great. Service was great
Pies were bought in Invercargill and flown to Wellington for a team hui. Great flavors and fillings.
Only reason this is not a 5 is because they refuse to include allergy and religious information about their food when you ask.
For example their brie, chicken and cranberry pie is made with a bacon béchamel and sometimes will event contain pieces of bacon.
Great taste just not great if you can't eat bacon.
Great place for a cheap feed, and with some absolutely delicious pies, sandwiches, and desserts!
Best pies we have had in a very long time. Beautiful pastry, lots of filling, lovely sauce, both a little heavy on pepper only negative.
Bought a box of 8 after seeing them advertised on tv show
I love pies so just had to try
Disappointed with the fillings
The puff pastry is a winner
The pies are solid and hearty but the fillings in the steak pies are too dry the meat is over cooked and a lack of meat and mushrooms
The lamb (with kumera) was just mashy and needed gravy and lamb
The chicken pies are the best choice
Mince n cheese was ok
Glad I tried them won’t buy again or recommend
Some of the best pies I've ever eaten. This place makes all their pies in house and offers plenty of different flavours. Prices are also affordable. They also offer coffee and have few seats by the window inside.
Just got our pie club order and tried Fat Tony's Chicken Parmesan it has to be one of the best pies we have ever eaten. Hope it becomes a regular.
Adding to that last month's pie of the month, Flaming Moo was a fantastic pie as well. Hope it comes back as well
Best little pie shop so far in the South island. Friendly service nice selection of pies and cakes. If ever in Invercargill call in and try a pie or two I did
These pies are legit. I’ve eaten a lot of pies in my day but just had the tastiest one since I can remember. It was a seafood chowder pie. This is a step-up from the usual crowd.
Just got our box of pies. They are the best pies. Lovely filling beautiful pastry
Highly recommend. Buy a box and see for yourself.
Just received my first pie club order. Exceptional Steak and Mushroom pie. Well worth the wait. Can't wait to have another one.
There are no better pies in Invercargill, best mince and cheese in the world. Worth every penny.
Generous with the filling. Average taste. Have had better pies from BP service station. Retried their pies. BP pies definitely better 100%
We received our pies yesterday. I had seafood, daughters had chicken cranberry and brie and my husband had steak and cheese. I don't think I have tasted such a delicious pie in years! We all just loved the pastry and the contents were sooooooo tasty and the pie was so full but not so full that the filling overflowed. I will be ordering again!
Real pies! Real meat, awesome pastry. Plus some gourmet flavours for the more discerning pallette.
Omg the seafood pie is the best. Haven't tried the other flavors and not normally a pie eater but I will be back for another.
NOT a 5 stars as most claims. I reckon they haven't tried really good pies. Had a Mince n cheese and a mutton. $6ea, but pies are larger than normal so no gain/loss. Pastry is very good, nice flaky and puffy. But the Mince n cheese filling is average, no really much better than the local bakery or service station. The mutton filing was a disappointment, bland and not flavorsome at all, looked like luncheon except luncheon tastes a lot better.
Absolutely ridiculous… don’t accept pay pass … not sure if you’ve realised but it’s 2022, it was introduced 15 years ago.
