What ingredients are added to make the meat and gravy in the pies so dark -? Soy sauce or gravy browning.

Got off to a rocky start as the two types of pies we wanted from their menu weren't available (no mutton today) and seafood wouldn't be ready for another hour.so settled on Creamy chicken and Chicken, Brie and cranberry. These were pretty good. Very big, full of flavour and packed with meat.

If you visit Invercargill, you cannot pass on Fat B Pies.

I had the pepper steak and the better half had a mince and cheese.

Pastry was perfectly cooked and crispy (but not too crispy) and the filling was good quality (not like some places).

The staff were nice and pies were reasonably priced.

It does get busy around lunch time, but the queue is worth it.

Parking can get a bit hard, would recommend snaking a park in countdown next door.

We heard that the pies here were good, so figured while in Invercargill we would give them ago.
Got the chicken, cranberry and brie cheese.
It was delicious! A good proper pie shop!

Came here because the name was funny and the reviews were high. Best pies we've had in a loooooong time! Perfect filling, really good pastry and really good price too! Will probably have another before we leave Invercargill

Pretty good! Wish they had a second vegetarian option. The only veg pie wasn't available today anyway (or my second choice either), so I ended up going with a mutton pie instead. For my personal taste, it was too heavy and dense - but I imagine those who eat more meat than I do might enjoy that quantity!

I wouldn't dock a star for that alone, since it's a matter of preference, but was a bit disappointed overall. In addition to not having the only veggie pie in stock, they "weren't making large coffees today" (not sure why). So basically I ended up with a third-choice pie and second-choice coffee. Not bad, just a bit of a letdown after fantasies of a Thai curry pie with a nice big coffee, you know?

Long story short: go in without expectations or dietary restrictions, and you'll probably walk out happy!
