Beechwoods Cafe reviews
51Unfortunately pie was cold and coffee was burnt, to the owners: you can fix this by adjusting the hot water that comes through the tamped coffee, its nothing to do with the milk!
Stopped on my way to Nelson and was totally ignored so left. Stopped again on the way back and they wanted $5.70 for a takeaway coffee! I declined and picked up a very nice one from the pub for $5. Not a good way to lose business 2 days in a row!
Everything's pretty average, food and coffee is average, nothing outstanding nor objectionable. Handy place to stop, with easy parking.
Just dropped in for a bite to eat and a coffee on a road trip. Plenty of food options both ready made and cooked in kitchen. Good service from ladies at counter and serving. Place busy even in his current crises.
Popped in on the way up to Picton from hamner. Staff lacked personality or sense of humor.
Coffee was average. Milkshake was just syrup and milk. Don't even get me started on the pies. Tasted gamey almost like mutton. Unsure whether used shrimp paste or cross-contamination but I am allergic and throat was burning by the time I reached Renwick.
I give 1 start credit towards the toilet facility.
Pies to die for, and the staff are excellent. A great place to relax for a bit after a big drive through the pass. Thanks gang!
Regular stop. Nice food, coffee usually pretty good. And plenty of room.
It can be really hot in Murch in the summer though so we usually get something takeaway and keep driving with the a/c on!
Great little cafe to stop at in Murchison. Good selection of food, nice ambience. Recommend their delicious chocolate cake.
My husband and I always enjoy visiting this establishment as it had honest home cooked food and if you are one that does not like too much processed unhealthy food eg Mackers, pizza, fish and Chios etc the this is thee place stop for a top up, when traveling.
Lovely cafe as you enter Murchison. Great menu selections with a wide range of food and drink available. Warmed by a fire in the winter with lots of outdoor space in the summer. Lovely, friendly service and tasty food! Our go to place when travelling through.
Great usual stop along the way, food is fairly good, we ordered chips and got plenty, could you a little freshen up.
Excellent food good quick service with a smile, in just the right place for a stop for coffee or lunch.
Great staff, front of house was awesome. Excellent location and setting. Really nice place. Food was too drawer. Highly recommend.
Traveled on Saturday 19th, food was average and milkshakes just flavoured milk, and girl on counter was very sour, must doesn’t like my English
Extremely efficient layout.
Great safe parking.
Very good toilets. Food great selection and well set up for takeaways as well.
Stopped for coffee which was primo but discovered I'd left my wallet there. Phoned and was told they had it on their office desk. They are returning it to my home address free of charge. Isn't that great service and so trustworthy. Many thanks Beachwood Cottage Cafe.
Dropped in for a meal on the way up to Nelson. I had bacon and egg pie, mocha and Belgian slice. The food was lovely and the service excellent. Parking was easy. I got a spot right outside the door. The decor of the restaurant is good and all the facilities were clean and tidy. A good range of food from kitchen and cabinets was on offer at reasonable prices and there was a good range of drinks available, both hot and cold. I enjoyed my food break and the delicious hot mochachino. Thanks Beechwoods.
Only really one of two places to get cafe lunch on the way through Murchison. Service is slow and the food is overpriced for what it is. Decidedly average.
The staff at this cafe are truly amazing and the coffee is excellent! I am very touched by the kindness shown by the chef who came out and changed our car tyre as my husband was in a shoulder brace post surgery and was unable to help. We had tried two mechanics in town and waited an hour for help but neither shop were interested in helping, despite offering to pay or purchase a new tyre. We will definitely be stopping every time we pass through and look forward to trying some meals of the menu which looked delicious. Thanks again for your awesome kiwi hospitality! A must stop for anyone passing through.
