Orca Restaurant and Bar

My partner and I have been dining at Orca for 10 years or more. The menu was always good and service also. How ever it seems with the tapas type menu, COVID, lack of skilled staff or staff numbers, bad management skills has decimated this once fine eatery. Service was shockingly slow, we waited 25 minutes before we got our drinks, secondly 45 mins for our small plates to arrive, a further 35 minutes before or mains arrived.
The prawns had been cooked from frozen and they were tasteless watery items, I had small plate short ribs was ok.the mash on the main was cold beans chewy lamb rack nice. Even though we told the waitress our concerns and returned the meal when we came to pay the till operator did not know so had to fill him in. He was apologetic but no refund was offered. I said until the menu or staff changes we will never be back. Highly disappointed.

Lovely lunch with the best view. The staff are always friendly & helpful and the food flavorsome.

Nice smart venue with a relaxed vibe and amazing views of the ocean. Great food - I can definitely vouch that there was nothing generic about the pork belly, and it was cooked to perfection. The fish and chips were classic, however the fish was slightly salty and fishy. Desserts were the highlight, clearly made onsite. The meringue was generously portioned and had an interesting flavour combination with salted caramel sauce and ginger pears. The sticky date pudding was decadent and moist and tasted like I got a hug from Beyonce (says the 14yr old boy).

Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. Food was disappointing, not worth the prices. Calamari didn't taste fresh, salad was limp and soggy, roasted cauliflower was undercooked. Wouldn't recommend.

Now where do I start
First they forgot us and our meal! When the food finally arrived My Salmon was a steak so we switched meals Husband ate the steak and I had his Lamb racks the potato mash under the lamb was stone cold? They took 25% off the meal but lost any further custom

Highly recommend by a good friend who had a wonderful experience. Sadly did not live up to expectations. Staff were lovely and our waitress tried hard to please.
Food was slow, two courses over nearly two hours. Standard of dish not at all what we hoped. 6 meals with 4 of us very disappointed.
Sadly would not recommend.

Sunday long weekend called at 5: 30pm to see if we could book a table for 4. Was told fully booked until 7 but come down after. Came down to many empty tables with dirty dishes and having the manager/mater de was rude to another staff member in front of 8 waiting guest then rudely said asked if we have a booking then before answering he rudely said they where obviously full.

My partner and I Took a day trip to raglan and wanted a quick bite to eat, after looking online we found Orca. The menu looked great and the reviews were also very promising.

The venue itself is very inviting aswell as being surprisingly very spacious, the friendly staff pointed me and my partner out towards the deck, it was a perfect view out across the water while waiting for our drinks and food.

For our lunch we ordered the Caesar salad with the added option of grilled chicken as-well as a 6 pc of chicken wings

The Caesar salad is what you’d expect, the sharp taste of Parmesan, the saltiness of the anchovies, crispness of the croutons, the fresh cos tossed in the iconic dressing, They also thicker cuts of bacon (lardons) which is a very nice touch.

The chicken wings were Divine, they arrived to the table Crispy, Juicy, Sticky and Packed with flavour (We immediately regretted not going with the 12 PC option)

If anyone finds themselves in Raglan and needs lunch/Dinner I’d strongly recommend Orca

The food was delicious, the staff were very welcoming and made dietary requirements super easy. The food came out quickly and went down even quicker. 10/10 would recommend

Great waterfront eatery! Must book as we didn't and couldn't get an outdoor table, fully booked.

Had an excellent dinner celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary.
The staff were wonderful, the food superb with the BEST salted caramel pavlova ever!

They gave us free shots when they heard we were celebrating. A special touch of hospitality.

Food was really good. Went to this place twice during my weekend in Raglan. Fish and chips is a must, the portion of fish is very generous and very tasty. Also the eggs and avocado breakfast was amazing too. They have a deck with a nice view of the estuary on the back. The staff at reception seems to struggle a bit handling customers arriving during busy times. Book a table in advanced on summer long weekends as it gets packed and fully booked on the day. They follow covid19 rules.

I was there on my break from Auckland with my girly gang. Ambience, Sunset views from our table, drinks, dinner, all perfect. Great customer service!

My experience was so good. Food was great, service was great the view was good just a great evening all round

Came here for our brunch before heading back home. Raglan seemed to be a very busy this weekend. This restaurant is busy as well. Really enjoyed the foods. The healthy salad bowl was delicious. The staff is helpful. Not much wait for the foods. Nice coffee as well.

Iced coffee, very good came with cream on top. Possibly one of the best big breakfasts iv had from a cafe/restaurant. 2x perfect eggs, mashed potato thing, slice of bread 5x crispy bacon rashers mushroom and even a T sauce
