The Verandah Cafe & Function Centre reviews
77Wow we had a shockingly disappointing visit to this cafe. The playground is awesome and even on a dreary day the kids had a ball. But the cafe was terrible. There was a sign declaring a 45 minute wait on all food including a toastie and some cabinet food! I waited 45 minutes and my food was still lukewarm. The kids boxes were awful, my daughter refused the cheese tart so I declared her fussy but then I tasted it.yuk.the two stars is for the chocolate cupcake which they ate and the lovely girl who took my 3 to pick their ice cream.
Waited almost an hour for our meal to find out they forgot to put the order up for the cook to make it, sloppy but hopefully a one time thing?
Food is very expensive here for what you get. So we were expecting good qaulity and good sevice. But alas no. Couldn't manage to deliver our food at the same time. Some people had finished eating, whilst others waited a further 15mins. The qaulity of the food was average to poor. So was the grumpy service. Several items we wanted to order were apparently unavailable. All in all i don't think we'll be back for food. Maybe a coffee and an ice cream. Surely they couldn't mess that up. Or can they.
Stopped in the cafe wit my granddaughter after a lovely walk and play at the playground. Had an average coffee and a very sad and expensive muffin, dry and tasteless. Service was ok, setting is outstanding. Many average reviews below, you guys need to do way better.
We went for a walk around the lake and after decided to pop in for a coffee. The service was so slow. The coffee took quite a while and it was not that busy. Staff didn't seem to have a clue. I was not impressed.
A large place with table and well spread out good seating inside and outdoor seating with good view of the lake and playground.if your children are playing.wheelchair accessible.
I ordered the mango cupcake bacon avocado and ranch sandwich?
Very tasty and delicious
Went for breakfast and tried their Melt Challenge entry. Service was good, one of our orders came not as described and they were quick to sort that for us. The drinks were great too. Plus the location is fantastic, the playground is right there.
Poor service. Food luke warm.
Staff pleasant but not enough of them to cope with the high customer numbers or the size of the cafe. Pleasant but noisy.
Won't return here.
Scott and the amazing team at The Verandah hosted our Royal New Zealand Plunket Trust Stakeholder Function. The staff were brilliant, the food divine and the venue itself is perfect, showcasing the beautiful lake and surrounding gardens. Loads of parking and well located makes it the perfect choice for any function requirements.
Always easy to deal with these guys for our corporate functions. Well prepared, helpful, good food and great venue. Thanx for another successful day!
Vege slider sounded nice and had a tasty vege pattie but only a silverbeet leaf with a very small portion of fries and ordinary canned tomato sauce. Not a lot for $15. Chocolate muffin had not been mixed properly, fell to pieces and contained large clumps of melted sugar. Basically inedible. The sparrows enjoyed it. I guess this cafe has no competition in this lovely busy place but next time we will bring a picnic.
Lacking customer service, not very busy when we were there and we still had to go ask for our coffee. In the end we went to the counter and pick the coffee up ourselves, by which time the milk had gone flat. Such a shame for an outstanding location
Over priced, extremely poor service, untrained staff, and very long wait for food. Ordered a meal for 2 adults and 3 grandkids, but only delivered 4 of the 5 meals. When queried they had sold out of the missing savoury scones, even though there was at least half a dozen in cabinet when ordered. Then ordered a muffin, but after waiting 15mins with others who had ordered afterwards getting their food, canceled order and left.
Disappointed
Food and drinks were great, but the young lady behind the counter may have been having a bad day, because she didn't seem too happy.
Went for lunch with friend. Friend wanted to order the Fish and chips meal, but found there was no fish available. Settled for Chicken. I had prawn and salad meal. Serving size was large And prawns lovely
A fairly average experience. Had to ask for my table to be wiped down and 2 quiirts of disinfectant on a cloth and a quick wipe over seemed inadequate. Food choice was limited but the coffee was okay. Service at the counter was friendly, Outlook great, atmosphere was average
Wow, What a lovely place to wine, done and dance, even more lovely outside with the lake and ducks etc.
A lovely place to enjoy lunch in Hamilton. Lake on your doorstep and an amazing kiddies playground to keep the little ones amused, for hours. Was disappointed with our little mans chicken tenders meal, for an item on the kids menu the tenders were a wee bit spicy for him the fries went down a treat tho. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting.
Fantastic! I am super fussy and this place was awesome. The food is real! No packet salmon or hash browns here. Service was super fast and friendly and the location is simply the best in all of Hamilton. We will definitely be back next time we come down from Auckland. Yes it's better than most Auckland Cafe's. Well done The Verandah Cafe.
Wasnt very empress with dry date scones and expensives menu we had for lunch of $24.00 with coke an mixedberry shakes an vegetarian sandwich
