Waikino Station Cafe reviews
66What a wonderful time there on and off from 11.30 until 14.20. Excellent service and experience book first online to save waiting around, but you can relax here in the natural setting.
Very quaint cafe. Inside the old railway station. Very friendly staff and we had a really nice lunch.
Quaint little tearooms in an olde world and thyme style. Lovely paraphernalia all around periphery that have good talking points and intrigue on past times and people. Staff had good historical knowledge too. Definitely worth a visit?
Made a quick stop for a coffee and loved it. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good coffee. Nice place for a break on long drive and enjoy old railstation building.
Called in yesterday with my two daughters for lunch. Very nice bacon and egg pie with salad, quick and friendly service and good coffee. Will be calling in more often instead of just driving past. Thank you.
Such a beautiful spot, never seen a cafe like it before. Its very quirky with yummy homemade food and super friendly staff!
Very helpfull staff. Food was great. Local business must support. We had fun missed the train ride. 2 pm is the last ride I think which doesn't come back. Plan noon trip to have Trai ride.
Management accepted our cycling group of 25 at short notice. We had a really nice lunch. Thankyou. Waikino railway cafe.
Took train from Waihi, coming to this delightful little cafe. Food all prepared on the premises & the cabinet was brimming with some wonderful looking baked goodies.
Bought a coffee & raspberry tart which I ate later & it was delicious. Overheard another person saying they had been instructed to buy a raspberry tart by another family member so I guess these are a staple & well-liked. I would visit again just to buy the tart.
Large coffee was served in what is normally a medium size takeaway, disappointing at & $5.50.
Great spot to stop off biking, hiking or catching the train. Lovely selection of food & great service.
Had brunch here and food was very good. Coffee was hot and husbands hot chocolate was one of the best. Friendly ladies serving also. Recommend and will certainly go there in the future.
We enjoy this cafe - great stop on rail trail. Friendly staff & good selection of yummy food.

Really enjoyed this experience, must do for anybody, elderly, children, little date. Enjoyed a afternoon with my partner on this one, brought some lunch at the station cafe and it was table delivered on the train. Was very lovely,
Thank you too the lovely volunteers that manage the station and the young man who was so polite and had beautiful customer service, my best bit was when he said " Tickets Please" gave a real great experience, keep up the great work.
Great spot for a coffee watching traffic and bikes go by. Great selection of food for lunch friendly staff Great coffee
Such a cute place to stop and have a quick bite, the scones are epic and the kids love the train rides!
A lovely place to go for a bite to eat and a drink, after or before a bike ride or walk on the track, coming to the beach or going hom e absolutely beautiful home made food
Best steak burger ever. So simple but everything done well and the steak is the hero. Would have loved a Lion Red to go with it
Historic cafe that makes you feel like you've gone back in time. Good food, great coffee, and friendly service complete the package. Highly recommend for a stop, even if the train isn't running.
What a lovely part of the Waihi/Waikino train ride experience! Compliments to the chef at this quaint historical Cafe! The food was fresh and delicious. And without a word of a lie, their lemon cake was THE best I have ever had! I can highly recommend it! It was FULL of flavor, tangy & moist without being stodgy. I chose to have it with yoghurt to compliment it (which was absolutely perfect for it as they had cleverly added a touch of lemon curd in the centre of the yoghurt!). So the tangy bite from the lemon curd with the smooth flavor of the yoghurt was absolutely AMAZING!
P. S- You REALLY need the whole historical experience so, do the train ride and enjoy the atmosphere with Gavin and the rest of the team. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
