Cafe Kaizen

Obviously not good on a Sunday! Had corn fritters for lunch with salsa, the fritters were sparse on corn got mostly batter, chips still pale and luke warm.
Usually gr8t during week but below average on a Sunday.
Disappointed to say the least. 12/02/2023.
Running out of serviettes, unbelievable, quote when asked, "sorry we have run out.lol

Don’t waste your money on this place very poor service I ordered a large take away cappuccino they gave me regular one and it was coffee all around my lid they didn’t clean it and on top of that they charge for marshmallow with out letting me know which is most of cafes is free

Ordered a toastie, waited 30 minutes. Chased it up again and told it was on the way. Followed up 2 more times, an hour after entering left because it never arrived. Very disappointing experience.

Bitter coffee and the worst cheese scone I've ever tasted - couldn't taste the cheese, and it was loaded with pepper? Won't be back in a hurry.

I'm disappointed in a way I had to wait for my coffee. I ordered my coffee before some people and they got theirs before me. I'm normally patient but I had to wait over 20 minutes for my coffee. It shouldn't have to take too long to service coffee. One staff tipped it from a cappuccino cup to a takeaway one. Service sucks and I'm not going back.

I get you got to start packing away the chairs and tables, but really you could not stack any louder than what you did. Damncrightnrudebwhen you have customers still eating the food you where open to selling them. I won't be back. The food was not even ave.

Disappointing. Haven't been for a while ordered large takeaway coffee and got more like a small and was burnt.

Yummy food but every time I've been in the service has been poor, mixed up coffee orders and several times left me to stand at the counter to order for an extraordinary amount of time, while they continue chatting to each other as they do other things. On one occasion it was Verging on the rude as they definitely knew that I was there. No apology for mixing up my order.shame as the food is good!

Nice environment, had the mince toast, pumpkin and blue cheese pie and 2 iced coffees. Food was okay, A little bit pricey for what you get with most iced coffees being $6.50 and this one $10 at this cafe. Probably wouldn't come back to go here.

Started out with good service but in the end we left feeling dissatisfied. Cake came 15 mins after our coffee. I went up twice to ask where it was but was ignored both times and sat down again. Not even busy, just doing other things, talking to each other. Cake was great, but by then we just wanted to leave. One cake, two people, not offered another fork. I don't give bad reviews, but I wasted my time and money here.

Ordered 2 meals, 1 arrived way before the other, sourdough bread was cheap supermarket stuff.
Indifferent service, cake selection looked OK.
So 2 coffees 1xEggs bene and Mushrooms on "Sourdough "
Over $40, salty, delayed and overall disappointing.
Not like it used to be at all.

Coffee, hot chocolate and date scone was nice. Older lady serving really rude, no customer service so unfriendly. How hard is it to say hi with a smile what can I get you. I found her really intimidating, barking questions at me "what do you want" I have no idea why you would put someone like this out the front serving.

Very disappointed that this cafe is refusing to take cash. Understandable during covid but they say this is to continue. I only had cash and was going to have to walk away which at least two people did while I was there. Luckily someone else in our group offered to pay for me. I think this isnt ok and people will choose to vote with their feet. Below is my original review and was what I had this time. Stars removed for not accepting what i thought was legal tender but obviously not here.
Busy cafe that serves lovely food. Nice staff. I order the Macaroni Cheese out of the cabinet and a muesli slice

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. We came for Sunday lunch and had an omelet, beef snitzel, Greek salad and toasted sandwich. Everything was well prepared but completely bland and rather tasteless.

Food and customer service was nice.
Waffles was good - but not very pleasing to the eye; the fried egg on top of the fried chicken did not partner well with waffles, banana & pineapple on the same plate.
Nacos with mango salsa was delicious - but admittedly, mince would've been a nice option.
Unfortunately, the noisy construction made it a very unpleasant conversation around the table.

New menu on wall can't be read properly from the counter. Foods not as good, I don't know why they changed it. Used to be awesome.

We have been coming here for many years, great food and good coffee, but a bit pricey. They have just in the last few weeks changed their seating system, and I won't be coming back. You now have to queue first for 10-15 minutes when busy, and only when you're about to order will you find out if you can actually get a seat. I sat at a table while my husband was ordering, only to be rudely removed as they gave priority to the people in the front of the queue. There is no info about this new 'system', and it simply doesn't work. And there is no need to be rude about it.

What a lovely little Cafe. The food is wonderful. Just a couple of things annoyed me. 1st, the dress code is not nice at all. Very untidy. 2nd is we watched the person cleaning the tables. Firstly he wiped the table then the chairs, without changing cloths he went onto the next table. Not very clean practice. I really enjoyed the food though. Tasty & vibrant

Staff always super friendly, down to earth and approachable. Always going above and beyond their service and the food they deliver is on point 24/7 One of my favorites in the whole of Porirua!

Coffee was good. But pricey for a small cup. Nice staff and pleasant atmosphere. Great views over the Japanese garden.
