Fidel's Cafe reviews
58 It was very early in the morning, and everything was quiet around us.
Food was good and the coffee awesome.
I really enjoyed brunch here on a recent visit to Wellington. The menu is great and my wife enjoyed having lots of vegetarian options to choose from, and it was easy for me to leave meat off my burrito so that she could try it. Coffee was great. Service was really good and everyone was super friendly. Fidel's is an institution in Wellington for a reason, absolutely worth visiting if you are in the area.
Great to be able to share a slice of Cuba as it was in the NZ capital city with all the bohemian charms authentic food and yummy smoothies. It is small with limited seating but the staff are very considerate of wait times
What happened to the OG fidels? It was such a Wellington institution. The food was fine - it used to be fantastic. Service was average and they weren’t overly busy, they forgot a drink then charged us twice but the fries we ordered never came. You used to have to wait for tables but coming at 1pm on a Saturday and we were seated right away maybe should have been a sign. Fidel’s is a Wellington institution- hopefully this is just a hiccup in what is a great cafe because I definitely won’t be returning anytime soon…
Great, cozy place, lots of friends plus nice & friendly staff. There was unexpected static electricity today when I walked in, though, and I nearly fell off my feet. I'd go there again, though!
So many cafes in Welly and I ended up choosing this one for eggs bene, and boy I'm so glad I did. Seeing so many people queue out the door and as a solo diner I was a bit hesitant whether there would be a table for me, but to my surprise I was taken care of well, and I had eggs bene with salmon and hash.
The eggs were runny, golden orangy and perfect, the salmon was super generous and the crispy hash really elevated the dish.
The cappuccino was also 100% on point and included a chocolate fish for a sweetener at the end.
So many other items on the menu I would love to try so would definitely be back again when I'm back in Welly, I wouldn't even bother going to other cafes
Good food! Friendly staff. Usually very busy but the staff will seat you to their best capacity. Must visit in wellington
Again - an awesome lunch in a busy and vibrant Cafe. Staff really helpful, and the quality of food and coffee didn't disappoint.
Me and my gf went there. Her menu said items from the lunch menu was available from 8am to 3pm. Lovely waitress said she couldn't order anything despite the menu saying otherwise, she also said my gf couldn't order anything from the kids menu because she wanted a small portion. A little confusing but otherwise ok. They should update their menus with correct times
I love Fidel's, from the decor to the food and staff.
Very atmospheric and buzzy place to go to enjoy wonderful coffee and food.
I had the vege samosa which was spicy and yummy then topped it off with the most amazing chocolate and Raspberry cake, do try it you will not be disappointed. Oh and the coffee my long black was delicious.
The staff are both friendly and professional which makes is another bonus, nothing like being greeted with a happy face and friendly demeanor.
We visited this cafe for brunch, on our trip to Wellington. This place was extraordinary! The samosa was so light n yet crispy on the outside bringing out all the beautiful flavours, Fidel’s feast was delicious n perfect for brunch and not to forget, the Cuban burrito was a massive hit! Loved every bit of food which was on the table. Also to mention, the service was really good n pretty fast even though the place was crowded. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.
I went here for brunch after ages and nothing had changed (in the nicest way possible) - delicious food and coffee, friendly staff, cosy, hippy and colourful place. I tried the smashed avo and it was really good. A big thumbs-up to food, service and place.
I came at a busy time and the staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating regardless. The orange juice was some of the best I'd ever had and their waffles & chicken are to die for.
Awesome place has lost some of it's old charm but mostly because of the no smoking out the back stuff beside that food was great service was fast and freindly
Amazing friendly staff, great food, and a fantastic atmosphere. Worth the stop whilst in Wellington!
All that you have heard about this place is true! Out of this world, burgers and milkshakes, one of a kind in wellington!
Excellent food, friendly staff and well-portioned for the price. The place is cosy and provides a quirky hipster vibe. It fits very much with Wellington City. Do note that it gets busy, so you may have to wait anywhere from 15 minutes or more to get a seat.
Service has been awful the past few times I've been there. Table service was very slow; after waiting 10 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink no one arrived; then I called over a member of staff it felt like we inconvenience them. Unfortunately this isn't the exception but the norm. The food was also poor and not up to the standard of Fidel's from previous years. Really disappointed to see Fidel's go from one of Wellington's great eateries to one that I'd recommend others to avoid.
Returned to this place with family from overseas. All remember and love the food, service and atmosphere in this unique cafe
This place was nice enough, though not a very relaxing place for a meal. I think if you're looking for a place with lots of hustle and bustle then this is for you, we found it a bit much. The food was alright we thought, but very good coffee
