Fidel's Cafe reviews
58A bit cramped, but able to use next table as well when it became free. Food delicious. A bit slow when busy, but cooked fresh & worth waiting for
Absolute classic Welly cafe. Fantastic coffee and food to match. Excellent for brunch on a sunny day in their courtyard
Doesn't really match up to the hype and not worth the money, with much better options up and down Cuba. Seems to be coasting on its fame more than anything. I'd recommend to try somewhere new, because Fidel's probably isn't as good as you remember/heard.
Also, last time we were there my partner had hot tea spilled all over them, got minor burns, then we were made to pay for the tea! Had to fight and twist the manager's arm to get it refunded and swore never to go back.
The Vietnamese pork belly was outstanding. Excellent food & drink for a good price in relaxed surroundings.
One of my favorite spots for brunch. A must every time I visit Wellington. Fantastic food and coffee. Can get very busy so be prepared to wait for a table.
The best breakfast burrito in Wellies for sure. Amazing coffee, great service and unique decor and ambience. A MUST if you're in town and looking for a good breakie or brunch
Got there as soon as they opened as we had to be somewhere, and so did everyone else! Amazed at how busy they were at 7.30am on a Thursday morning and the staff were amazing. Service was fast and efficient, food was great and coffee was good. Can definitely recommend, and see why it's one of the best places to go in Wellington
Very nice food in this popular cafe. Great atmosphere, good place to escape the boredom that is Wellington. New Zealand doesn't really do cities!
Delicious food. Everything was a highlight from the nachos, waffles and big breakfast. Really enjoyed the hashbrowns. Now that's what u call a hashbrown. I'll definitely be a returning customer. We went on 2 Jan 2019 where most eateries were closed so im glad Fidels was open! The decor of the place is very cool. Luckily we got in early before the busy peak hit.
Really cool little cafe/bar/restaurant with a great menu, plenty of choice and was delicious. Cool Cuban vibe and had local music adverts etc on walls so check entertainment on the weekends. Was full, so book ahead if busy and be mindful that service could be a tad slow. Also does takeaway that looked #100
Best cafe I've ever been to, would love to go again. The maitre'd was organized and managed the busy and crowded atmosphere very well, love the selection with vegan and vegetarian options and great coffee as well. Just love the vibe of the place, it is off the charts!
Possibly one of the better and quirkier cafes in Wellington. Very good for brunch and the chicken and waffles are amazing.
Nice food but very slow service. Would have been nice to know it was going to take an hour for the meals to be delivered
Food is above average - fairly expensive. I got chicken and waffles and have tried their pork belly also. LOVE their snickers milkshake. Staff weren't particularly attentive nor friendly/welcoming. Above average experience:)
Nice food and chilled atmosphere, basically everything is perfect except customer service - one specific female waitress who seemed like new face made me feel very unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Great little hidden gem for brunch. Fresh, flavoursome and good portion sizes plus chilled outdoor area
Visited this place 2 years ago and they haven't changed much - which is a great thing. The food was amazing with reasonable but not overly large portions. The milkshakes were amazing (in particular the salted caramel), and the fried chicken with waffle is just something else, the balance of the fluffy waffle with crispy fried chicken and the maple syrup made this a stellar dish overall. Would definitely recommend this as a place to go to for food in Wellington anytime they are open.
