Priya Indian Restaurant reviews
44It was less enjoyable due to the really bad food. The meals lacked flavor and quality. The menu promised tasty options, but the reality fell short. I hope the hotel can improve its food quality for future guests.
Excellent food, especially the stuffed naan. Most of the bad reviews are older, so guessing there have been changes since those bad reviews.
Delicious meal and prompt service. The mango chicken was excellent! Would definitely go back for seconds if I wasn't so full!
Delicious Indian food with vegetarian/vegan options. The staff were so friendly and helpful when I asked about vegan options. I got an Aloo Gobi to go and it was delicious! I even asked to make it spicy and it actually was! Affordable prices too!
Food was delicious and fairly priced but needs some music in the restaurant. Feels extremely airie and awkward to talk to someone, in fear of being to loud
Everything here was great, top to bottom. The service was quick and excellent, priced well for the quality of the food. The specified spice levels of the dish were perfect as well. We wish we were here for more than one night to eat here again!
Went last night and had amazing service! Portion was great, couldn’t even get through half my meal, so got to take some home with me! Very tasty and perfectly spiced. Would highly recommend (girl server went above and beyond for my table)
They opened recently after an year of closure and that too for nothing good or exciting. Same old sweet taste with even smaller portions for the price we pay. Naans are very tiny, dry and chewy. I don't recommend. Hokitika can do with a better Indian restaurant.
Had the worst dining experience. We had ordered 3 different curries, all tasted same. It was like they have the same base of gravy and they add the needed meat into it. All 3 curries were extremely salty. Not a place for authentic Indian food.
An awesome meal.yet again. I had Saag.delicious! G man had Lamb Handi.also scrumptious.definitely recommend
Disappointing. Spring rolls worst I have ever had. Straight out of a pac and save catering box. He even confirmed this when I asked. Microwaved mains, sloppy slop. Don’t like leaving bad review but obligated.
5/5 ️.
Travelling from Dunedin to Westport via te
Anau and tried a few Indian restaurants on the way here. And here I found the best curry.
The Curry was so authentic and yummy. Must try Sahi Paneer.
Thanks.
Waiting time for the food was very long. Food was decent and portions were small, but they had delicious naan bread which, I have to admit, was one of the best I ever had. Staff were friendly and kind.
Everything looked and taste good, until I found a massive fly in my main. They offered me another main, but of course after to see the fly, how I could trust them.
The girl working in front was really nice, but the manager never appears to talk about it.
My friend after that, as well didn't finish their plates, because it was disgusting.
Food was disappointing. The lamb korma was gluggy, tasteless and a horrible grey colour. Everything on the Priya platter was over fried, tough and dry and the garlic naan wasn't nice. Had to offer to show my covid passport as the wait staff didn't ask and others walked in without masks or showing their passport. The place needs a paint, clean and cleaning the windows wouldn't hurt.
I try not to write anything regarding businesses but I am quite compelled for this one. Not so great service and not good food as compared to rest of the south island. These owners need to go out of Hokitika and see what rest of the NZ Indian restuarents are doing. By far the worse I had.
As a constructive criticism, owners need to work really hard to bring up the food to good standards. Maybe just because they are the only Indian restuarent in Hokatika, that's why they are surviving.
Waiting time was too long. They did not serve the drink but charged us. However, food quality was good. Every thing coming in parts. Front of House staff girl was friendly but rest of them not even greer us.
Curry was tasty but the portion size was very small. Naan bread was crispy rather than doughy. Service not the greatest
Indian dishes are tasty but they couldn’t manage to provide nun bread to us in our next order but we managed with rice
Fantastic food. Really good Naan bread. Perfect portions. Starters arrived promptly as did the meals. 10 out of 10. Great service.
