Priya Indian Restaurant reviews
44Very busy with a big table to cater for. One waitress and she was very pleasant and efficient, lovely meal, recommended.
As many have pointed out, the service is quite slow. Food was alright when we dined. It was good to get warm and tasty Indian food in cold and rainy weather
Worst experience at this place. Food took nearly 50mins and nothing came out together, our curries came out first, there was confusion with our order and one other table so everything was wrong and not together. We commented to the waitress how disappointed we were about the service and she gave us attitude. I later rang and spoke to the manager/owner who wouldn't refund but he said he would give us other food (we didn't want more food as the original order was horrible and the meat was so chewy and undercooked that we literally had a mouthful and left. I let the owner know he would be getting a low review and he was OK with it. Very underwhelmed and will not be back and will not recommend to other people. Good luck with your business, you'll need it.
Service was really slow 50 minutes to get food. They served takeaway customers faster. My main was frozen mixed veges in a sauce. Not even fresh veges. Disappointed. The sauce was nice though, but sad to say I would never go back
This place is okay. Nothing great. The only Indian restaurant in the area. Felt like I was in some cheap roadside restaurant in India (bill was not cheap though) and only difference was that they served liquor. Ordered garlic Naan (3*4.50) chicken curry worth (19) and a beer (Mac's), just one and my bill was 46. I want say that the garlic Naan was not nice. It was descent. But the chicken curry had a butter chicken base and the chicken was not cooked properly. Overall a experience.will I go back? NO.
Shameless Staff, Poor Service, i waited 2 hours.no menu served. Don’t know why they run this place. Waste of time: (its a disaster.
Good first experience but a surprise!
I had dinner at Priya during my first ever trip to Hokitika.
I had paneer kadhai served with complimentary rice. The preparation was good and the wait time was reasonable.
For dessert, I asked for mango kulfi. I was surprised when the dish came. It was a piece of mango kulfi served in a bowl of mango juice (आमरस) and seasoned with pistachio flakes. I have eaten mango kulfi at a lot of places, but never kulfi served in thick mango juice!
Come here often, sometimes they get my curry bang on being medium. Other times it’s more like mild, butter chicken is amazing same with the chicken Tika masala but they just need to nail the heat/seasoning aspects, I’d give 5 stars if they could just get that right. Garlic nan is amazing also!
Horrible service. Average food. Unfortunate there’s not much to choose from in hokitika. Drinks took an hour to be served. Portions were small.
Could not decide between or 4 stars.nice samosas.friendly service.some dishes taste better than others.limited selection of drinks if you dine in
Don't understand the bad reviews, my palak paneer was one of the best ever. (lived 5 years in India).
My friends butter chicken was great too. No pictures, finished to fast
Amazing vegan options! Didn’t think we’d find much vegan food in hokitika but we were so happy to find this place and the food was so yum! A must go to
Food was good. But the service was slow. Got our drinks after an hour waiting two minutes before the food. Very poor.
The food was fab, we had chef's special CHICKEN DUM BIRYANI and we were stoked with the authentic taste. Great service. Definitely worth a visit.
Delicious! Definitely recommend this restaurant when you are in Hokitika! Teenagers loved it too.
Good food - I had a chicken curry, my wife had prawn curry. Both were really nice. Recommended (but there's not much choice in Hokitika).
Took a while for service but they stayed open than imagine is usual as I was eating (around 9pm). Vegan jalfrezi was good, and I was asked how spicy I wanted my meal, which I appreciated. Good poppadoms!
My beef madras (asked for hot) was mild and overloaded with salt. Almost impossible to eat. Rated 3 stars as other dishes seemed pretty good
Can't understand the bad reviews. Best Butter chicken I ever ate! Combines with the garlic naan just awesome. Go there if you like Indian food!
Reasonable Prices!
One of the few Indian restaurants in hokitika. Although it doesn't have a great interior and looks, food tastes good.
