Amano reviews
72 Came here for dinner and it was sooo good. Flavourful and creative dishes! Every mouthful was packed full of flavours. Every starter and main was spot on! So delicious! Must book a table in advance! Nice environment and also free 2 hour parking at Brito mart car park (remember to retain the receipt though!) Wait staff was friendly and always made sure we were looked after.
HOWEVER! The desserts didn’t finish it off. Gelato stick was meh, kinda like a magnum stick. Trifle was way too rich. They need to either balance it or make it smaller portion. Also it should’ve been served in a clear glass instead of a bowl so that we can see the beautiful layers of the trifle! Unfortunately it went from amazing to meh because of the desserts, which was really disappointing.
But overall easy 9/10. If they nail the desserts then obviously 10/10. I definitely recommend this place!
Bakery is amazing and scrumptious but the restaurant food was average, not so special unfortunately.
Not been here for a loooong time?
- my loss and will not make that mistake again! Went midweek lunchtime and the place was full!
Food is excellent full of flavor and pasta made freshly made! Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable.
Would recommend booking a table in advance - I hope you enjoy it as much I did!
Crowded, but it’s not a surprise why! Delicious eats! Croissants and coffee on a Sunday morning at Amano is definitely a vibe.
Fantastic food and service. Lovely attention to detail in both the meals and the decor. Will definitely come again.
It’s been a few times that I enjoyed my time here. The food is always great, good drink menu and desserts are always exceptional. A must dine in place in Auckland
First time was good, second time terrible. The food took forever to come out, some food was burnt and the chicken under cooked and looked raw
Had to wait for a table which was no problem as we were seated on the side by their closed bakery and served drinks.
When told a table was ready there was no mention when putting our ne down or being moved to our table that it would be up at the bar. Service was average, mainly due to us being up at the bar. Between entrée and mains they forgot to place our mains order so had to wait awhile for mains to come. Ended up eat our main meal close to 9.30pm, which was very late considering we entered the restaurant at 7.30pm and were seated by 8pm. Food was amazing, good vegetarian options. Taste was great. Ambiance was beautiful. Loved the dried flower arrangements on the ceiling.
I had very high expectations for this restaurant but was not overly impressed. The menu was very basic with not many vegetarian options and overly expensive. The waitress that we got was very friendly but I could see that a lot of the other staff seemed a bit rude; they were not smiling at all. When i got my food it was okay but very very rich i could only eat half, i don't think i would return back to this restaurant again but the bakery was amazing and the food there was good.
Ok some good some not so good, scampi dish was not tasty at all! Pasta too thick! Papadelle was tasty! Sides inconsistant tonite
It was nice, a different atmosphere from our standard restaurant. My charcoal chicken actually didn't have the charcoal flavour.
Good service.
Tried Amano with colleagues earlier this year and had high expectations.
Food tasted average overall for the four dishes we ordered (Tuatua spaghetti, steak, Pan roasted flounder, lamb pasta) especially the clams spaghetti was under cooked, maybe we didn't order the right dishes?
A little disappointed to be honest. I have been here before for breakfast and it was delicious and great service. This time though, food was meh for lunch and we had an hour to eat until 1: 00pm, which was fine, but the food only arrived at 12: 45. I didn’t even finish my meal, I had to leave with half my chicken not eaten. Will not be coming here again for lunch.
Excellent service and lovely food. Amano team are great communicators. Thank you for managing to get us a table at an earlier time. Our waiter was helpful and nicely attentive and he is another reason we will be back. Thank you
We visited last night for dinner. We didn’t have a reservation and they were fully booked for the night but were told limited spaces are available for walk ins. So we tried our luck and within a few minutes we were seated by the lovely staff. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! Big industrial space, softened by flower arrangements, ambient lighting and wooden furniture - I couldn’t stop looking around. The music was super cool, too. The staff were so lovely and attentive, never a minute going by without being looked after. Our water being topped up promptly and no need to ask. Price is reasonable for the quality of food we ate. So very tasty and hearty.we had a few starters and some pasta dishes and each dish was divine. So much flavour that I tried to savour each mouthful - i can not fault anything. I highly recommend coming here and making your own opinion of the place.
Just one of Auckland's must go dining experiences, bookings get snapped up, and there's a wait-list for walk-ins speaks for itself! Wife had the lamb recently it was cooked to perfection
Had brunch at Amano on Saturday. We didn't have a reservation and despite that we were appointed to a nice table. The service was fast, professional and friendly. Great food. Amazing decor and vibe! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed an amazing meal and wonderful service, thank you to Erin for organizing the birthday cake, lemon meringue cake, delicious. Thank you also to Liv our waitress for the evening, great attention. We will certainly be back
Love this place, not too formal, not too casual. So good place for the special day like wife's birthday or anniversary. Sometimes I bought my 2years old boy, it's okay but kinda boring for baby. But still one of my best restaurants.
I finally visited Amano today. The interior is very well decorated. The atmosphere was rather complex, rather than calm. It must be a famous restaurant The service was really great!
I ordered some food, and it had a rather normal taste, but the food was a bit salty. There are no irritating ingredients, but did you spill salt into the bowl by mistake? Haha. The food got more salty when it cooled down later.but all the dishes are pretty and the olive oil is delicious! I'll ask them to season less salt next time.
