The Blacksmith Eatery & Bar reviews
77Had a wedding anniversary there. Food was awesome. But the staff behind the bar. Looked like they were on lemons. Not one smile from them
One of the best places in Auckland to get a hearty filling meal. The ribs are a must, tender, saucy and delicious! Portion sizes are really good just a bit pricy but definitely a good place to go once in a while.
Absolutely wonderful. Service and meals were fantastic. Prices great and an atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy your company. Highly recommend
Had lunch.
Service: slow (over half an hour wait) wasn’t busy maybe 2-3 families and 2-3 couples so we expected quicker service.friendly staff.
Value: 67 bucks for the burger, schnitzel and a mocktail + milkshake.
Strawberry Milkshake was a rip off, $8.50 syrup in a narrow bottom glass and 30% of it was just can cream topping.food was actually very filling, very large quantity.
Taste: fresh and clean, but very average taste.especially the schnitzel it was dry, bad battering and not too tasty.
Atmosphere: nice and clean, good spot for watching sports as well, nice big screen.
Work on speed, fill a proper glass with milkshake and ask if customers want cream or not, menu should mention that the smoothies and milkshake is juice and Syrup (otherwise don’t call it smoothie it ain’t).
I enjoyed this place. The food was good and service was on point. Its especially a great venue for sports fans with all the big screen tvs to watch.
Came for a private function upstairs, the staff were very kind, and the food was excellent- better than the $200 per head venue for the actual wedding reception a few days earlier. Double cooked herby potatoes, delicious bread rolls, juicy meats and a flavourful ham. Dessert was also excellent rhubarb and apple crumble that had just the right level of sweetness and perfectly textured pavlova
Attended their final Bottomless Brunch for 2020. We had a booking for 12 ladies. Food was great!
The let down were the cocktails, the service for the drinks was so slow when they delivered our drinks, we would order the next drinks because the time it took them to deliver the drinks our entire tables glasses were empty. They had 4 cocktails to choose from and ran out of two of the cocktails Strawberry Bellini and Peach Bellini which were the two preferred drinks and failed to tell us so even more time was wasted waiting for our drinks.
To improve Bottomless Brunch at Blacksmith I recommend having a separate area allocated to those having the Bottomless Brunch so there could be music playing it was strange not having any music in the background and when asked we were told a customer asked to turn it down. But we were there before the customers and there was actually no music. Assigning a Waitress and Bartender for Bottomless Brunch because as more customers came in the Waitress was trying to tend to customers as well as our table. We also saw one of the staff swear f*** under her breath as she came to our table which we all thought was uncalled for no one was being rude. I wanted to give 4 stars because the food was delicious, the service and drinks can be improved but when a waitress swore that was just unprofessional.
Great staff great food!
The staff were very friendly and willing to change things around when I wanted a starter as a main. Also let me sample the cider to see if I liked it.
There is a huge menu and plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options.
First time dining at venue. Very good food. Good portions. Friendly staff. Good value for money.
Food is good, which is why I visited more than once. Service needs some improvement, they make you feel unwanted and they are extremely slow.
I've been here a few times as its just around the corner.
Buy 2 jugs and get a free pizza is a sweet deal.
The service was so fast. But one waitress rule was broken as we had two different people serving us.
Food was great, but service not great at all. From the 4 staff that was working only 1 tried to provide a good service (thanks Puablo) while the other 3 had regular catch ups and chats behind the bar. I had to keep standing up during meal times to place orders.
Table service was slow. Pizzas were amazing, had the blacksmith cheeseburger, generous portion but burger pattie was very very dry. Would go back for the pizza and to try something else on the menu
Good pub atmosphere, with the largest screen I have seen in a pub, so good for a pint and sports. Restaurant upstairs if you can for a bit more formal dining. Staff are friendly, food is good with nice portions, reasonably priced, with all your favourite main beers on tap.
Served foul beer (off) multiple customer's complained did NOTHING to fix the issue. (We avoided the beer) Pool table the only positive point and the 2 piece band. Without the band no atmosphere.
Very good manner that the manager on duty organise our table for the quiz night and to dine.
Meals were a bit pubby but loaded with chips to make volume.
Wait staff particularly on busy nights could be more aware of diners needing service, drink refreshments etc
Good for drinks but food is a bit hit and miss, mostly misses in my experience. Even their fries were bad. Calamari was nice. Also don't expect any mobility parks as they are always taken by lazy people without permits.
Blacksmiths has an extensive menu to suit a lot of different tastes. I've taken overseas visitors here who were very impressed and wanted to go back more than once to sample other dishes. Meals are always hot, good quality, substantial portion sizes and served quickly, even when they're busy. I like to sit upstairs as it can be a little quieter when it's very busy on a weekend night. Staff are always attentive and prompt. This restaurant and bar is good for bigger groups as well.
Had bar snack fish and chips. Fish very very oily. Chips good. Beer good. Lady in charge seemed very helpful
