$11+ for 300ml of Tiger beer? ! You gotta be kidding me. Prices you probably expect in the middle of town, but in the suburbs instead. There isn't even a decent view. This place is a rip off. I have no idea why it's always so busy. Do yourself a favour and go next door instead.

A bit of a mixed review here. The big screens for the sporting events are a good size and well placed, making it pretty easy to view from most vantage points. They have good variety of beers on tap, and the bar food looks pretty good, and the beer batter fries are definitely moreish. What let them down on our visit was their coffee making skills. We ordered a long black, topped up with milk, and a cappuccino, and received the long black, with no milk, and a mochaccino. Asked for some sugar sticks, and received artificial sweetener, but nothing to stir it in with. I could only stomach a couple of mouthfuls, before giving up and ordering a beer.

Was at zookeepers son last night for the first time. Worst experience! Fights started breaking out. Couldn't enjoy our drinks at all, some guy had kicked the door, glass started flying at us. Also a blonde staff member was in the bathroom talking to me and my sister, saying she didnt care about the customers here (that's not hospitality). This place is ghetto.i give it up too the two security's and the two polite male bartenders though.

The place is cool and busy. They have promotions at the bar sometimes. I think food is okay, but the mushroom burger is not nice.

Great food good service. Loved the vegetables tofu mixed veg beer battered fries and chicken wings. Highly recommend.

Perfect place to grab a beer and enjoy a nice bit of conversation with your buddies.

After a friend recommended them, and being up in Auckland for a wedding, thought we'd go for brunch on a Saturday before the wedding. They advertised they were open at 11, by the time we got there from the city around 11: 30 they clearly weren't. Was disappointed but we were pointed towards circus circus after a quick phone call to another friend. Best idea of the morning, great food and the service was above and beyond.

Hosted our Quiz Night in the RoofTop Bar at the Zookeeper's Son. With the help of Xanthe Smythe and the team, we had a very successful night! Our team is still buzzing from the positive vibes. Would highly recommend this venue for your next event!

For a Saturday brunch we ended up at The Zookeepers Son in Royal Oak. Service was great, prompt and we were ordered within minutes. The interior of this gastropub is stunning and very stylish with multi level seating.

We ordered spicy cauliflower with Cajun aioli, baby beetroot salad with grilled chicken, chicken schnitzel with slaw and beer battered fries and papaya marinated calamari with chips. Our meals were absolutely delicious and plates were cleaned up. Highly recommended!

I recently organised a work do at the Rooftop Bar. Everyone was complimentary about the food (especially the lamb). Xanthe was very helpful with the organisation and the person who served us on the night (sorry don't know her name) was great. All in all a good night. Thank you

We went to check it out for an engagement party. The upstairs room was fantastic. Staff very friendly. Party was was a great success.food was excellent
