Valentines Buffet Restaurant & Bar

I was a regular diner of Fortuna Buffet Restaurant at Sky Tower in Auckland because they serve unlimited Oysters.
I was so thrilled when I saw the ads that this Valentines buffet restaurant serves Oysters in Christchurch.
I rang them a week before and asked if they serve Oysters, I was assured that they are serving Oysters every day at dinner time. I booked at least a week before and the first slot for 5: 30 pm.
Only to be disappointed that I haven't even had a single oyster. Was told that the stock didn't arrived on that day.
I never made a negative review before. It was so disappointing, I told the cashier that the reason why we were there is because of the Oysters.
Wasn't too happy about it, I just felt that it was a ripped off for the price I paid.

I took my grandson who is 18 month old for dinner. I was given a $64 bill, which I thought was steep since it was just the two of us.
When I inquired how much for baby and the guy told me $18, I almost fell over.
What justifies charging a baby that's hasn't been on this earth for 2 years such a price tag?
I'm sure the proprietors or manager must know there is no way any baby under 2 can eat $18 worth of food.
Are they intentionally charging such exorbitant prices for babies under two to inflate their own egos by being nothing but money hungry greedy sods?
I used to in the past be a regular patron of Valentine's with my whole family which because I am from Rotorua born and bred number over a few thousand family members.
After tonight's experience, I've been put off from ever returning there again and am glad that my review can be seen by the whole wide world.
You are shameless Valentine, Rotorua.
You're not to the high standard it was when my cousin Kake Kautai was the Manager/Owner of years passed!
You're also stonecold heartless to charge innocent babies under 4 such ridiculous pricing for the wee bit of foods their small stomach can handle.

Friendly staff but Worst valentines I’ve ever been too. Food was awful apart from two meals they had. Seafood was the only thing fresh. Won’t be coming back

When you put love into your food the customers will know. And really there just wasn't any in this food. We had come from Wellington to celebrate my sister's 30th and never again. Food was weird tasting and old if you ask me.i usually take pics of my food but there just wasn't any points. $44 per person wasn't worth it. I wouldn't even pay $20 for that.

Cost me just under $200 for me and my family the food was disgusting the smell of the place smelt of off fish the oysters were old, mussels had no taste, cakes were hard, water was warm, the list goes on. We are not fussy eaters but I will not recommend this place at all to anyone or even any animals.very upsetting. I don't even give them 1 star

The service was awesome but the fizzy was disgusting and tasted so flat, some of the food had been left out for to long and was so dry or tasted old, the toilets hadn’t been cleaned and smelt so bad…

My family I do not recommend you waste your money going here. We paid over $300 for a family of 7. There was not a great variety of food. The food was cold. The seafood was not fresh. The hot food was dry and old. Desserts were not nice and dry. Fizzy was soda water with no flavour. Majorly overpriced. Definitely not what ValentineWe left feeling very disappointed and ripped off. I was there last night and couldn’t believe what $44.could buy.
After looking around to the very basic small selection I decided to get a plate and see what I could dig out.
The food was old looking as if it had been made hours before and not kept fresh. The hot dishes had no gloss to them and were grey and lifeless.
The salads were less than average and lacked any love buy a professional chef.
When I sat down I had 1 small bite of 3 items from the hot food selection and these were Lukewarm. As fast as I sat down I left the table and asked for my money back
This restaurant and I struggle to call it that, brings shame on the ones I’ve been to else where in the country that are really worth their money and have chefs and owners that care what they deliver …. I had a great meal at Cobb n Co next door and was more than happy to pay the same ….

If I can give them less than zero, I will not hesitate to do that. Extremely bad, we couldn't eat anything from the main and we were filling ourselves with the icecream which was also seem frozen.

Starters were very cold with no taste, main were extremely bad, the rice was not cooked well.even coffee machine was not working.

Had Christmas Dinner at Valentines Rotorua and very interesting experience Experience for yourself we will not be Back

Nothing there for none seafood eaters.
Nuggets and chips and fish bites they were dry No roast potatoes or roast meat
Alot spicy foods. Had 7 Adults that wete hungry when left.

Price was a little much for the quality of the food. My main dishes were soaked in sweet chilli sauce nearly every dish I chose had chilli sauce in it. Seafood wasn’t very pleasant. Deserts were soggy or wet from freezer, Custard watery. Mac and cheese just wasn’t your normal cheesy taste it tasted like flour and cream.this place needs a new chef/cook. Wouldn’t recommend unless you don’t mind eating bad food for high pricing. Now I wouldn’t mind the price if the food was really good. They’ll be getting a seeeyah from me. Besides the negatives the waitress was nice.

While aware we are living in Covid times and have to make changes it should not come at the quality of the food. Not only were a lot of the regular foods off the menu they have upped the price! I don’t mind paying more if the food is really good but I feel very let down.
I woke last night with an upset stomach so can only assume it’s from something I ate. I was overcharged $6.17 even with a $2 surcharge for using payWave. I won’t be supporting local again.

Booked a table for two for my wife and I for our wedding anniversary. They asked if we would like a balloon and a special dessert.
We said yes to both.
We received neither.

The food itself in the buffet was not that great either.

Only positive, there was hardly anybody there, so it was nice and quiet.
You'd think on a quiet night they'd remember their special guests.

On every single table and even on the signs of the walls they gave the option for you to purchase the special coke glasses your drink for the night comes in. They told us this was wrong and that we couldn't buy them. This is false advertising and clearly illegal. (Attached photo is the false/illegal signage.)

Whoever cooks the food here seriously has no tastebuds and no eyeballs. The worst food I’ve ever had at a buffet. The whole facility needs to be overhauled.

Hairs all over the floor, I don’t know how they can stay open, hair in my soup ewwwwwww don’t go there if you don’t want hair for dinner

Use to look forward to going to Valentines when visiting Rotorua.
But never again! Is really disappointing hardly anything to choose from what was there was very dry, seafood smelt bad and looked old. No fizzy drinks available as Machine was broken.
Very surprising you still get customers.
1 star for table staff as atleast they still do a good job.

Went there for my friends birthday, way over priced for value, most food was cold or lukewarm, oysters covered in bits of shell and smelt and tasted funky, waiter dropped my straw on the floor, told me he was going to get me a new one, and didn't, seafood salad was slimy and tasteless, not much food selection.no chocolate fountain.cream was old and most desserts soggy.i also felt sick after i had gotten home and brushed my teeth twice to get bad tastes out of my mouth.on a positive note, staff was lovely, made my best friend feel special with her cake, made us feel welcome.wont be coming back, they really need to up their game if they want people to keep coming back

Bad service, tried to bail on a promo had advertised on every table blaming covid well if thats the case remove the signage and promised two things when making booking failed to deliver not happy 0 stars if i could

I know times are hard right now but they shoiuld be careful with what they want to.give away and what they dont

People were very nice the food was not it was not yum it was cold that it started forming as jelly and the salads were not fresh you could taste it the seafood was rubbery and just not it never coming back
