Verve Cafe & Bar

As much as I enjoy sarcastic rude order takers, can’t say I enjoyed having the front counter girl treat my family and myself like idiots while rolling her eyes.

Went in to order 2 takeaway coffee's but wasn't overly impressed with how polite the girl at the counter was. Coffee took half and hour and was not good considering the name of the beans etc they use. The name and building attracted me, but I don't think I'll ever go back. The girl did apologize for how long the coffees took. Verve Gisborne has a bit of work to do

Very disappointing service on mother's day. The girl serving us at the counter had no customer service or food skills, I can only think it was her first day working there. Wish we had gone somewhere else!

Barista - Ronda was super rude. Asked us why we didnt make a reservation when we are a group of 7. And after we sat she slammed the water on our table and rudely asked we were done with the menu after just 5 mins of looking at it.

The barista was unbelievably rude and impatient towards myself as well as other customers. I didn’t feel welcome at all. Won’t be coming back

The customer service was horrific from the barista as she was impatient with my friend and gave her a snarky attitude and asked “are you listening? ”

Have sent an email of feedback due to the unpleasant experience there with the barista. Hopefully the owner will care enough to look at it and appreciate the feedback.

Barista is extremely rude, loud, impatient and uninviting. “Would have been nice to let us know you where coming” to a group of six. Coffee cups dirty. Very unpleasant experience In this cafe.

Would 100% not recommend going here, very cold and rude staff, did not feel welcome, service was terrible. Were spoken to very rudely.
Coffee was nice but not worth it for the shocking customer service we received.

Very dissapointed 4 our first visit we ordered our meal b4 3 people and was very angry they got their meal b4 us me my daughter and son in law were the only Maori in the place I'm not racist at all but the white people that ordered after us got their meals b4 us and they ordered the same food as us and also got their drinks b4 us not impressed and will definitely not be back here bad hospitality u treat everyone the same that's paying customers.

I've been there a few times, gotta say that's coffee's good, though many places makes great coffee. My personal experience I was mocked with accent and loud speak trying to copy my accent it was rude and utterly uncomfortable by the ladie whom I think manages the verve cafe. I know her by name, though no point mention it. That it was almost 4/5 years ago, and since then I don't go there. Only a few times, 3 at the most, and always making sure, of that person not working after that exeperience, I am still gutted by such a very poorly sense of humor. As an ex restaurateur, my standards are not demanding nor judgemental, though we all know well to not go there.

Atmosphere was good
Sadly, service after order and hard poached eggs let them down. I ordered egg benny and bacon, they brought me corn fritters and bacon. Counter staff and then The chef came out saying I didn't order eggs benny. When Benny's arrived eggs were hard

Same owner as when I was a kid, same lack of service and quality. This cafe amongst others hold onto their patrons only due to a lack of diversity and competition in this region. Somethings never change. On the plus side my kid loved the fries.

The eggs benedict tasted great and the eggs were cooked absolutely perfectly. Had a table for 4 of us and coffee came out quick and was quite nice.

Positives aside, it's sad that the bacon wasnt "crispy bacon" like how it is written on the menu, also sucks that spinach wasn't part of normal eggs bene even when written on the menu as if it is. A singular thin slice of tomato isn't acceptable. If tomato is on the menu, make it something WORTH the $18 you have to pay for it. The icing on the cake though, was the tall skinny barista. She was exceptionally rude. I'm exempt from wearing a mask and all I got were death stares and rude remarks as soon as I stood up. Sorry for not realizing covid only spreads when I am standing, not sitting.

She was abrupt and arrogant towards us, gave all of us death stares and looked like she hated her time there. Don't think customer service is the right profession for her. I think Rhonda needs to change her name to Karen.

Barista was really rude telling us off for not making a booking prior. Blonde hair lady at the till was nice, food was pretty good too.

I really luv coming to verve cafe and bar, I enjoy the food the staff are always friendly. But this is now the second time in a row I have finished my meal and my coffee still has not arrived. I am about to go and ask for it but the coffee should always arrive before my meal. Maybe the front of house needs to sort themselves out instead of chatting after all we have paided good money for all services offered.

My wife and I ride the East Cape almost every year for the last 12 years. I always look forward to.our night in Gisborne and a nice brunch at Verve.
This year it was a dissappointment. Cold and over cooked eggs and an owner/manager who was indifferent and more interested in her phone than customers. It was not busy.
At a time when every customer counts, this was unfortunate but we noticed a new cafe just down the road so we will try there next time.

Food is usually good but this Sunday was pretty average, the newer staff didn’t look happy to be at work on a Sunday not even a hello.

Grossly under trained in the staffing department.
Extra hot was asked for and paid for.
What was served wasn't!

This was a good cafe with good coffee. We sat down at the end of the long passage in a little patch of sun.
