Very dissapointed 4 our first visit we ordered our meal b4 3 people and was very angry they got their meal b4 us me my daughter and son in law were the only Maori in the place I'm not racist at all but the white people that ordered after us got their meals b4 us and they ordered the same food as us and also got their drinks b4 us not impressed and will definitely not be back here bad hospitality u treat everyone the same that's paying customers.
Grossly under staffed.
Poo lady doing the best she could. Very polite under so much pressure.
Gotta make this your go-to cafe in gizzy if you haven't already! Rhonda and co are great, welcoming and efficient. Yep its popular so sometimes there will be a wait, that's life! No request is to big or small. The vibe is awesum, the music eclectic and groovy!
Thank you God, lovely vanilla coffee that is very beautiful. Gail cross I am very happy to have a smile wow that's awesome.
We have deliberately returned to this Cafe on many occasions because of their standard of service, menu, meals & the friendly welcome. A go to for sure & we will again.
Fritters were excellent, salad was huge, coffee was near perfect, what more could you wish for?
Always a good coconut latte from Verve, what makes the visit even better is the amazing people serving
Staff are lovely, coffee and corn fritters are delicious. The eggs benedict was a bit average.served on a supermarket brand English muffin it would be way better on sour dough or ciabatta.
What a busy little place and after tasting our meals I can see why it is popular. Very Very good eggs bene and the Spanish fry up was huge even without the eggs.
Very good coffee and better than cafe food. A really good package of very good coffee from Havana in Wellington, well cooked and flavoured food, with pleasant professional and organised people out front. Nice new renovation too. Recommend

Excellent food and drink! We had scotch fillet on chips & bacon and eggs on toast with coffees. Wait was fine, coffee was great, food was devine. Helpful staff and nice vibe, should be proud.
Great tasting coffee, enjoyed breakfast and well priced, the owner is great to talk to and have a laugh with. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Gisborne.
I really luv coming to verve cafe and bar, I enjoy the food the staff are always friendly. But this is now the second time in a row I have finished my meal and my coffee still has not arrived. I am about to go and ask for it but the coffee should always arrive before my meal. Maybe the front of house needs to sort themselves out instead of chatting after all we have paided good money for all services offered.
Awesome except that the chef forgot the egg in my bacon n egg panini but when it was corrected it was purrrrfect xxx
My wife and I ride the East Cape almost every year for the last 12 years. I always look forward to.our night in Gisborne and a nice brunch at Verve.
This year it was a dissappointment. Cold and over cooked eggs and an owner/manager who was indifferent and more interested in her phone than customers. It was not busy.
At a time when every customer counts, this was unfortunate but we noticed a new cafe just down the road so we will try there next time.
No longer serves alcohol and has changed it's feel since moving, Has lost it's individuality. Food and everything is still fine, just nothing sets it apart from the other 10 cafes in walking distance anymore.
Edit: Owner has since replied that the current circumstances are temporary and it will be back to it's old self sometime soon. Changing review from 1 to 4 star.
Overall it was good. Service was friendly. Few issues, coffee didn't arrive until after we finished our meals which was highly unusual, especially considering it wasn't very busy so was thinking they prioritising take aways. Food was tasty enough, but the poached eggs with the bene where slightly over done and not runny. All this sounds like more negative than positive, but in actual fact it was all OK and I would happily go back.
The eggs in my Bacon Eggs Benedict were over cooked, but otherwise tasty. Hot drinks arrived way after the food. Were sitting near the back and when leaving realised they had a large influx of customers which might have contributed to the delay in our drinks.
I've been there a few times, gotta say that's coffee's good, though many places makes great coffee. My personal experience I was mocked with accent and loud speak trying to copy my accent it was rude and utterly uncomfortable by the ladie whom I think manages the verve cafe. I know her by name, though no point mention it. That it was almost 4/5 years ago, and since then I don't go there. Only a few times, 3 at the most, and always making sure, of that person not working after that exeperience, I am still gutted by such a very poorly sense of humor. As an ex restaurateur, my standards are not demanding nor judgemental, though we all know well to not go there.
