Verve Cafe & Bar reviews
63Awesome place! Fantastic Vienna and Rostretto coffee, and we have had really nice breakfast over there, highly recommended. If you want really tasty coffee don’t miss this place!
This was a good cafe with good coffee. We sat down at the end of the long passage in a little patch of sun.
Slow at cashiers and wrong food brought out originally, but staff were great at handling and apologizing for it. Food was good!
Atmosphere was good
Sadly, service after order and hard poached eggs let them down. I ordered egg benny and bacon, they brought me corn fritters and bacon. Counter staff and then The chef came out saying I didn't order eggs benny. When Benny's arrived eggs were hard
Amazing food - Thai beef and prawn was delicious, the dressing and combo is something I still dream about. Delicious! Cool vibe with a busker out front too. We’ll be back for sure ️
Has redecorated since last visit was my go to place for coffee meals and excellent service

Decent cafe experience. Yummy, tasty food. I ordered the wedges which were sooo good! Hubby ordered the Spanish beans which were tasty and just spicy enough. Drinks came quickly. Only issue was my banana smoothie was warm, hence the 4 stars, needed to be made with ice which is a biggie on a summer day. But the ladies helped add ice to the drink when asked. Thank you for the service and friendliess.
As much as I enjoy sarcastic rude order takers, can’t say I enjoyed having the front counter girl treat my family and myself like idiots while rolling her eyes.
We had 4 light breafasts and a variety of coffees; around lunchtime I personally returned for an Iced coffee & a piece of walnut cake. In both occasions the quality of service, food pricing and the comfortable atmosphere were hard to beat. A very pleasant return to this Gisborne establishment, after the Earthquake & C-19 interruptions. Best wishes for the future?
Lots of space, parking at the back if your lucky. Good food, great service, local art displayed too.
Great food & friendly, laid back atmosphere. Bianca an assett. Super friendly and clearly loves her workspace.
Food is usually good but this Sunday was pretty average, the newer staff didn’t look happy to be at work on a Sunday not even a hello.
Amazing coffee made perfectly! Breakfast was so good, highly recommend the breakfast burger or the omelette. Food came out promptly, hot & delicious! Great price & filled us up! Service here is the best though, I’d come back just for that! Left feeling super satisfied & can’t wait to come back again soon. Thank you so much

Went in to order 2 takeaway coffee's but wasn't overly impressed with how polite the girl at the counter was. Coffee took half and hour and was not good considering the name of the beans etc they use. The name and building attracted me, but I don't think I'll ever go back. The girl did apologize for how long the coffees took. Verve Gisborne has a bit of work to do
Same owner as when I was a kid, same lack of service and quality. This cafe amongst others hold onto their patrons only due to a lack of diversity and competition in this region. Somethings never change. On the plus side my kid loved the fries.
Very disappointing service on mother's day. The girl serving us at the counter had no customer service or food skills, I can only think it was her first day working there. Wish we had gone somewhere else!
The eggs benedict tasted great and the eggs were cooked absolutely perfectly. Had a table for 4 of us and coffee came out quick and was quite nice.
Positives aside, it's sad that the bacon wasnt "crispy bacon" like how it is written on the menu, also sucks that spinach wasn't part of normal eggs bene even when written on the menu as if it is. A singular thin slice of tomato isn't acceptable. If tomato is on the menu, make it something WORTH the $18 you have to pay for it. The icing on the cake though, was the tall skinny barista. She was exceptionally rude. I'm exempt from wearing a mask and all I got were death stares and rude remarks as soon as I stood up. Sorry for not realizing covid only spreads when I am standing, not sitting.
She was abrupt and arrogant towards us, gave all of us death stares and looked like she hated her time there. Don't think customer service is the right profession for her. I think Rhonda needs to change her name to Karen.
Lovely staff and delicious food. Great breakfast menu, staff offer great advice too on local places to visit and things to do
