Wow what an amazing surprise. On the side of the road you can find the best breakfast. I ate a large mix of salads my partner had eggs on toast 2 coffees and a cake 43 dollars and it is so yummy. Reminding mums food

One of the cutiest cafe & restaurant in NZ, I've ever seen. Americano with oat milk and a little sugar was so yummy! Well done guys, keep cooking & baking & making great!

Horrific service. Waited in line for 20 minutes just to be bluntly told that there was a long wait on heating cabinet food. Not cooking food. But heating food that was in a cabinet. It's not what you expect on a long weekend.

Beautiful spot, really good coffee, and a lovely little shop too. So glad we stopped here. A couple of people in our group, said it was probably the best coffee they've ever had

I much enjoyed a hot chocolate with extra coffee as well as a nice wander in the whimsical garden and a visit with the friendly sheep and donkey.

What a lovely oasis! Great coffee, food, and environment. The outdoor seating is extensive, with umbrella'd tables in front and many more seats in back under the arbor. The citrus orchard is lovely. There are a trampoline and climber for kids. Staff was very busy on a holiday weekend but remained friendly, helpful, and patient. Prices are comparable to other local spots (it's not a cheap area) but the food was well worth it. Recommend highly!

Possibly the best cafe we've been to on our trips around the country. 100% worth the stop. Incredible food, friendly staff and a very cool atmosphere. Even the books and other items for sale around the place have been expertly curated. Can highly recommend all 3 dishes we had - spiced eggplant salad, caramelized onion and gruyere tart, smoked fish pie. Only sad thing is they won't be open when we head back! We shall return.

Amazing food, fresh and healthy - loved the kids plate with nice healthy options that the kids loved - even feijoas! The staff were lovely and told us about the two donkeys at the back and even gave us feijoas to feed them! The kids playground and trampoline was amazing too. Thank you, we will be back:)

Food and coffee get a tick from me. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Stopped in here and i wasnt disappointed, i chose a cheesecake without checking the ingredients and i think it had rhubarb on it, anyone know? Anyway 10/10 for the cheesecake and the coffee was really nice, the gardens are great and a special point for me the toilets were spotless

We come here whenever we go to Whitianga, a Superb Cafe, always 100% perfect. Just coffee and cake today but Awesome Apple cake with excellent coffee.

Such a rip off! Been coming to Colenso for years and don't know what's happened. Paid $44 for 2 person platter - consisted of 2 small pieces of toast, 2 small biscuits, 3 pieces of ham, 2 pickles cut in half, 4 thin slices of v average cheese, some almonds & 4 olives! And 2 tiny pots of relish. Couldn't believe it as have had this platter so many times before and it has been at least twice the size. Rather go up the road to Mercury Bay estate and have a proper platter there! Might go back for a muffin, wouldn't recommend anything else! So sad when a good place goes this way.

Definitely worth a stop at this awesome spot. There were a few good vegetarian options, I had a small salad to keep room for their amazing cakes! Their tea for 2 was a very generous pot with loose leaf tea. There's plenty of parking and you're able to keep an eye on your vehicle if you need to:) I noticed that it's also dog friendly. Their shop has some excellent books and Italian treats.

An absolute must stop, country style, great service and hospitality, we always call in when up that beautiful part of nz.

Great homemade food and a beautiful garden to sit in.
A valuable tip- the staff are very young and although lovely need a lot more training. As my partner and I ate breakfast we watched the staff circle the garden with food searching continuously for the right table.
Also, upon arrival as you enter the main part of the cafe the staff acknowledge you and don’t even give you a menu or point you in the right direction for one or where you can sit. I ended up taking the all day menu and didn’t realise there was a breakfast menu (which was what I was after). I think if the staff better trained this cafe could be incredible!

Riding past and We decided to stop for a quick coffee. What an amazing place the food was outstanding cheesecake to die for. Would highly recommend

What a stunning spot! Great food, awesome service and such a great variety of vegetarian options. Really enjoyed the custard square. Good coffee and a perfect stopping point between Hot Water beach, Whitianga and Tauranga.

Thoroughly enjoyed the early lunch at the cafe food was first class.
