Smash Pipi

Wouldn't recommend this place. Long wait for food when they were not overly busy and the staff were absolutely rude and made the experience unpleasant.

Our family/Whanau just enjoyed the best night dinning out experience here in Whangamata. At Smash Pipi, Port Rd.
We loved the menu. And we tryed everything on it!
The Cafe is warm and with beautiful decor. And the staff is friendly and professional.
I recomend you come and try.

Three of us had dinner here. We found the staff friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and very tasty - and the beer was great!

Very good coffee and scone for our morning break. Service not good - two different staff members tried to clear away our plates from under our noses whilst I was still eating. Please slow down and let us enjoy our food and drink.

Unfriendly dog adverse staff member. Slow unorganised service. Left before being served after waiting for ages.

Food was okay but the service was not great at all as they took the wrong order in and asked to pay for additional money if I want to change to the food that I original ordered. Also staff is not approachable either.
You have lots of other amazing cafes to choose from in Whangamata but definitely not this one.

Food and coffees are delicious. Young staff were very well mannered and professional. Cute spot to stop in for lunch. Was packed when we stopped in but totally worth it.

Coffees were alright
Food was served under seasoned, no salt on the chips at all and they were not fresh
Burger was big but no flavour in the meat patties at all, also under seasoned
Breakfast sausages were dry beef instead of pork (as they should be)
No water given to us throughout our meal

Service not great. Waitress spilled chips out of basket on to table. Apologised then walked away. Burger patties not fully cooked and grease ran everywhere on to plate and down my arm and dripped on floor. French toast ok. Have had much better. Banana cooked in skin.

I always have a great experience here. Everything comes with a little extra. The hot chocolates come with chocolate spoons (not just for kids!) coffees are high quality, meals are fresh and substantial but still elegant, the prices suit and the loaded wedges are truely LOADED! Staff are friendly obliging and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed and beachy, and the chairs even have inspiring or funny sayings written on them just to add to the classic kiwi character. Smash Pipi is perfect for a family lunch, catch up with a friend or time out on your own with a good book! For something with a little extra make sure you drop into Smash Pipi next time you're passing through Whangamata ‍️

If you're a guy looking for that perfectly satisfying burger, taste, size, freshness. The double beef burger here is the burger you've been longing for. Better than a lot of the Wellington on a Plate burgers IMO

Food wait was 40 mins. After waiting an hour was told they forgot to send order through to kitchen. Nobody seemed to care.

Smashed avo breakfast was very yummy but the berry smoothie wasn't great; tasted like it was just blended up mixed frozen berries and nothing else, a bit disappointing for $9 to be honest.

We had a great meal. Classic Sea Food Chowder and a Surf and Turf. Absolutely yummy. The service was excellent and we were very impressed. We had got there around 5ish.

Got a coffee, strawberry milkshake, iced chocolate and some fries. The fries were on our table in about 5 minutes if that and were great! Drinks were amazing too.

Excellent meal, and service. Had mince on toast with egg. Very tasty. Egg had strong color and full of flavor. We'll be back.

Wonderful seafood salad, prawns, calamari and scallops! Excellent Date scones with orange butter! So Yummy! Great service. Excellent host.

Really cool place, dog bowl even though pooch was in the car, coffee wasn't quite there.but I'm precious and ex barista so dont mind me too much ;-)

Awful, would of given zero stars, brunch was cold and tasteless. Staff were taking our plates even when obviously we were still eating! Young staff, were hovering around the tables and as soon as someone put a cup down staff would pounce and remove it. Not the kids fault, probably trying to look busy in front of the owners, but it lead to a very non relaxing time for us paying customers. This along with the salmon eggs ben, ribs, the bubble and squeek all below par. Coffee was good.
