Smash Pipi reviews
66Family run restaurant, founded in 2016, pretty new. Awesome ribs, kids menu affordable and well presented and the seafood food was incredible delicious. I was cold because I swan a bit before going to this place and after the soup, I felt comforting and back to normal. Clean and well maintained establishment, in the middle of the Main Street, great food, great staff. Will be back anytime soon! Thanks!
A regular stop off point for coffee and sometime breakfast on the weekends, a great vibrant place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere at Whangamata. Nice people, good food and dog friendly too which is a plus for us!
Recommended to us by Whanga. Locals. Great coffee, good menu and service. We both had mince on ciabatta toast with a poached egg on top, bloody brilliant! Again a local recommendation and spot on for a substantial lunch before the drive home to Auckland.
Only one criticism: ditch the artificial plants / greenery, go real or don't do it at all.
Well done Smashed Pipj
We were there this arvo it was full but not too busy it took 25 mins for ourcoffee to arrive it was like warm it took another 15 mins for our lunch worst lunch I have ever had my seafood chowder was Luke warm tasteless watery toast burnt I have been on the toilet all afternoon absolutely vile
Patra served the most delicious lunch to us today. Very well presented and the coffee proved good too. Thanks says my Mum for the extra cup.
Awesome service, very well presented food, fast food delivery to table once ordered.
Overall our group of 11 all enjoyed their food both days we came to the smashed pipi for breakfast.
Highly rate both the food and service at this place.
Would recommend getting a feed here anytime you are near by.
Thanks Smashed Pipi team.
Great place for breakfast! Stopped in on the way to the beach. The service was great and welcoming, food came out fast and was hot and delicious. Really glad we stopped in here!
Found out very quickly why this was the only cafe in Whanga main street with tables available on a busy public holiday. Ridiculously expensive. Food was overcooked and dry; and our sons meal was forgotten and didn’t come out until the rest of us had almost finished.
This is a quality place to eat and relax. The owner was very accommodating with a great sense of humour, the food top notch especially the Calamari Salad. Staff were friendly and we will be coming back here tomorrow because Smashed Pipe is reasonably priced as well.
My partner and I came here for a late brunch and managed to order from the brunch menu at 11am (finishes at 11: 30) got a coffee each and both were perfect. My Mediterranean eggs were perfection. Only criticism was the hollandaise, just tasted like mayo, needed lemon juice!
Rude staff, overpriced food, even told us we can't eat outside snack food even though we bought food from them too. Very poor for a kiwi cafe.
When for lunch last Sunday, was super yummy and service was great! Highly recommend the Satay Chicken and Mango Salad, plus the chicken wings!
Pretty good. Had the steak and lobster tail. Limited tap beers (2 & 1 cider?). Good friendly staff.
Thanks to the owners Mike and Petra for the morning brunch I appreciate your help and support thank you. Highly recommend yummy food and great service
The food was good. However both my wife and I felt VERY uncomfortable about the number of staff, in particular the 4 VERY young boys, that “hovered” continuously and seemed to “pounce” as soon as meals/coffees were finished to clear tables. In two cases observed with other tables, clients stopped them to retrieve something before it was taken away.
Also noticed with my wife’s and my order and with two other tables, the orders being delivered to the tables were split. Not the two orders for one table delivered at the same time.
We were left wondering if any of the boys names were Oliver Twist or Artful Dodger.
Service was very poor. We waited over an hour for our big breakfast and the eggs were overcooked while the sausages were undercooked. Did like the curly fries though!
Cold and below average. Asked them to not spread nutella on the French toast (very easy request as it wasn't baked in it) and they said they will see what they can do. When it arrived it had nutella which means it was either premade this morning or from yesterday. If they had said they couldn't accommodate to this would not have wasted the money as I could not eat it. The rest of the table were also was very disappointed with the food saying it was cold and very average.
Coffee was very milky, weak & over priced. Lime milk shake was nice but tiny (the size of a regular takeaway coffee) and cost $7. Chai latte tasted like warm milk when returned it was toped up with more syrup not remade. The Service was mediocre. We won't be back.
Good menu choices, I enjoyed the fish tacos. Friendly staff, easily accommodates a large group, all of our group enjoyed their lunch meals
Awesome friday ladies night young man singing so good.cocktails amazing especially "bloody gorgeous"
