Nice service and atmosphere, "bottomless tea" was hot water poured over the already spent tea bag, portion sizes were pretty average, the "home fries" were actually french fries (not your classic American diner home fries).

Reminded me immediately of my diner experience in New York, but with a chill kiwi vibe. Great food (even got cinnamon scrolls/sticky buns) and super friendly staff.

The poutine was okay and mazo ball soup was average.but the NYC cheesecake was PHENOMENAL. 100% best cheesecake I've had so far. Would definetly recommend coming here just for the cheesecake.

Service is some of the worst I have ever encountered. If you don’t flag down a waiter then you will not be served. Some orders simply do not turn up. A pity. The food id good.

Been here a few times. Always really busy, book in advance if you're going with a large party. Love their poutine, but last time when ordered, the fries were overdone and it took away from the dish.

Wonderful service and drinks, the food is very New York styled, so portion sizes might be what you expect. But the salmon is delicious! Would recommend.

This place is always busy hence not recommended for the people who are wanting a place for a date with loved ones. (You cannot hear anything) Enjoyed the Breakfast and Dessert but not really about the all day dining menu (House Pastrami was nothing but disappointment and not worth the money) Will surely visit again for the Banoffee pie:)

Amazing pancakes Highly recommend the pancakes. I'm happy that I discovered a good restaurant to have wonderful brunch. Chicken salad sandwich is freshly made and yummy.

I asked for flat white right after sitting down, and realized Federal is purely American style so no kiwi coffee provided.

I've not had any typical American coffee with milk since I moved to NZ. I kind of enjoy this good old days feeling.

Montréal poutine is up to Canadian standards! Finally found a restaurant that does decent poutine. Steak and fried cauliflower were delicious! A cute NY style diner atmosphere and good service. I 100% recommend and need to come back for the desserts!

The aesthetic its only a suggestion that the place is an american deli, but it is NOT. The portions are small, filling on bagels
insufficient, the items on the menu misleading, and the service left a lot to be desired, they never bring you the food together if you're with company, forget what you ordered, dont refill bottomless coffee; etc.

This is a great place for a late night hang-out. I love their 3 pie trio. The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic. Although they are very busy most of the time, the service is good and wait times aren’t too long. Definitely a solid place for food in the CBD.

While the food is good, the service is poor, especially the male at the front. He is condescending, rude definitely not a people person.

Service was excellent and food was yummy. The only issue is there aren't many options for vegetarians (only one sandwich and a couple of salads).

Meals took 55minutes to come out. Ordered the chicken sandwich worst thing I've ever tasted couldn't even eat it. Although the deserts were very good.

Great restaurant with the whole American style diner theme right to the waitresses, furniture's, booth seating, bar and ultimately the food. The toasted reuben is heavenly and the same with the dessert pies!

As a regular visitor to federals we have noticed a recent decline in both the staff, food presentation and the availability of food on the menu. Sorry guys. Your once high standards are surely slipping
