Federal Delicatessen reviews
89Full of American vibes. Went in the morning and they only had sandwiches though. Would recommend to come after 12 for full menu.
Fantastic diner experience! The Reuben was the best I have ever had, but my favourite part about Federal Delicatessen was sitting at the counter and watching the chefs create these amazing dishes:)
Get a seat on the bench at the deli if you can - watching them prepare and push out such an enormous volume of meals is already worth the visit! Recommend the Reuben
Always great food. Normally we have some of the sammiches which are great. The Reuben and chicken salad especially. Today we had skirt steak, poutine, and pastrami. Absolutely delicious. Pies are also a winner. Service was lovely, and our meals were up fairly quickly especially given it was Saturday night and place was packed
Visited for lunch, ordered the chicken sandwich, one of their bottomless coffees, and a mini peanut butter shake. Found a bone in the sandwich but otherwise good, coffee nice. Service generally pretty good and friendly but our waitress forgot to get a couple of extras we asked for.
This place has some of the coolest vibes in Auckland. Food is great, really American style diner experience which is hard to find in Auckland. Great service and entertaining decor. Definitely recommend the Chicken Sandwich toasted with cheese.
Excellent lunch place! Has inside and outside sitting. The atmosphere is New York old fashion style, i would say:)
I had toasted reuben with apple cider and being super hungry i could barely finish my meal. Which means that the portion is quite large. Apple cider was wonderful and perfect for an early day buzzz.
Surprisingly good place even for vegetarians. The cauliflower salad and hummus are a kind of fusion dishes and absolutely delicious.
Wow, would have given six stars if I could. The staff were very friendly to accommodate us without a booking. We enjoyed quick service, quality recommendations on food, and had a fantastic experience without breaking the bank. The pastrami Poutine was incredible, as was the Best Ugly Bagel. I do recommend a visit, if you're in the area and looking for a quick bite.
Best place to get some real food everyday, but especially during Friday and Saturday after 9pm! The pastrami is always moist, flavourful and they are very generous with their servings when it's in their Reuben sandwiches. If you're not feeling up to the beef, the chicken salad sandwich also comes with gravy and a crackling inside. Their poutine is always a must have when you're with a group of friends. Fed Deli is always consistent and that enough is worth a regular visit.
Always great service and great food. Awesome themed decor, cool vibe, everything is consistently good here. You can count on enjoying this place every time. Parking can be expensive if parking at Skycity, try going to the civic to save some cash.
Fed Deli has amazing sandwiches and the classic Poutine. I love pastrami and I can guarantee this is the best pastrami sandwich in town. Recommend!
Amazing place, humming! I was hungover and the staff were incredible and looked after me.even took my virgin bloody Mary off the bill because I couldn't drink it. Awesome.you guys rock!
This is a lovely diner. Relaxed, welcoming and real. True Al Brown dialect.
I reckon the most pleasant part of the menu is what they offer for lunch. The Kahawai is the best dish with that fish in Auckland.
Although channeling New York Jewish delis this ain't kosher in any way. More like a Cafe imagined in Te Awamutu in 1972 that has a knowledgeable and maverick cook inspired by local ingredients.
Brilliant realization of nostalgia NZ. Fleur Sullivan could well approve of this home style deli.
I often stop here on my way home from work for breakfast (I work nightshift), the staff are always lovely (considering the ungodly hour they have to get up to cater for us) and the food is delicious and varied. 10/10 would visit again. Hospo to hospo, you guys rock.
Yum! Loved the service and the detail of the New York deli theme. Bottomless Havana coffee and good company is a nice way to start a Sunday. I would make the trip into the city to eat here again.
This could have been a 5 star experience, but the music coming over the speaker was so loud the server and I had a hard time communicating. The Ruben was delicious. The pastrami was lean, tender and an excellent flavor. Top notch. The Cole slaw was not my favorite. I have never been a fan of vinegar based slaw. Maybe it's an American thing. I will definitely be back and maybe change my rating if I sit in a different location and don't get tinitus after my meal.
Excellent diner style food tucked away in plain sight. Bottomless Havana coffee, delicious mashes, brisket. Staff are great. Good hair of the dog options too. Some unusual decor and photos, not your usual Americana. Portion sizes are substantial. Ruebens are good too.
Food served and consumed before cocktails served. Bar tender standing around talking. Food and drinks would otherwise be 4 star.
Such a cool spot. Been here more time than I can count haha. Never has let me down in any way. Nothing like it anywhere in Auckland food wise and feel wise
