Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen reviews
88Sweatshop has always been one of my fave venues in city due to the great music and awesome terrace so I decided that I’d pick it for a friends birthday function. We hired out the velvet room and arranged a silent disco and it was class! Perfect space for our crew and the whole experience from initial organising to the execution was amazing! The team on the day were super helpful and my group had the best time! Food was also super yum! Would deffo recommend if anyone else is looking for a space for a party and I’ll 100% be back to enjoy some sunshine on the deck this summer! Thanks guys!
Was here recently on holiday great venue brilliant service menu to satisfy everyone in our group highly recommended
Been to a couple of gigs hosted at Sweatshop amazing atmosphere, such a vibe.will definitely be back for more
My group went to Sweat Shop to watch the Formula 1 as advertised was a Redbull Event, with live music, spot prizes, race simulators and a full race day. As big fans of formula 1 we were very excited for this event and very disappointed in attendance. There were no prizes or live music. The race was only shown on one tv, until the race started, so no full race day viewing unless your table was sat in front of the one tv, we had to watch the tennis instead even though the event was told as formula 1 only. We were sat at a table with a huge pole in front of it, unable to see the projector properly, which was blurry so unable to see any times or read a thing.
We were told there was a maximum 30 minute wait on the food, which we understood, however our food was bought out an hour and a half after ordering, once the race had finished. The chips were good, but not an hour and a half wait good. The pub wasn’t full, and orders weren’t going out as you would expect if there was a wait on food.
We expected a lot better as the event was majorly advertised as the place to be to watch the Japanese Grand Prix. Very disappointed customers, having spent $650 on a terrible experience. Won’t be going back to Sweat Shop, especially for a viewing event.
Just came back from Sweatshop and had an absolute smashing time (pun intended because I ordered the smash burger). Our server Ross had us feeling very welcome and a blast to talk to. Recommendations are the smash burger, and the Fried chicken (order some aioli sauce with this trust me). Will 1000% be seeing them soon! Thanks team
Changing to 3 star from 5 after 2nd visit.
Went with a large group and after dinner we were going to play on the street fighter 2 machine where all the boys would have stayed longer and drunk more as the night was still young.
Bar tender grumperly told us the area was closed off.
It wasn't roped off it anything. Maybe just didn't want to clean that area again. The machine was turned on and working.
Disappointed we left and went else where

Fantastic Experience at Sweat Shop Brewery!
Rating:
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sweat Shop Brewery, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. This place deserves nothing less than a five-star review!
Let's start with the food. The pizza and Korean chicken were absolutely amazing! The flavors were bold, and the quality of the ingredients was top-notch. The pizza had a perfectly crispy crust and a delicious blend of toppings. The Korean chicken was incredibly flavorful and had just the right amount of heat. I couldn't get enough of it!
Even though there was a minor mix-up with my pizza order, the waitress handled the situation with utmost professionalism. She quickly rectified the mistake and brought out the correct pizza without any hesitation. Her attentiveness and prompt response were truly commendable. It's refreshing to encounter such dedicated and efficient staff members.
In addition to the excellent food and service, I was pleasantly surprised to find a fully restored mid-90s era Street Fighter 2 arcade machine at Sweat Shop Brewery. As a fan of classic arcade games, it was an absolute delight to immerse myself in a nostalgic gaming experience while enjoying my meal and drinks. The arcade machine added an extra layer of fun and entertainment to my visit.
The overall ambiance of Sweat Shop Brewery was fantastic. The place had a trendy and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind with friends or family. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that every guest had a memorable time.
All in all, Sweat Shop Brewery exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The combination of incredible food, exceptional service, and the presence of a retro arcade machine made it an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience in a lively and enjoyable setting. I will definitely be returning soon for another round of delicious food and good times!
Thank you, Sweat Shop Brewery, for providing such an amazing experience. Keep up the excellent work!
My wife and I were visiting from Canada, stopped in for lunch, best double smashed wagu beef burger, Delicious. Outdoor patio, lots of seating. Friendly staff.
Come here with your friends if you are looking for a pub that sells really good food and has great vibes. I tried a variety of dishes and they were all pretty solid. Definitely worth checking this place out if you are ever in Auckland CBD.
Ordered items:
- Sweat shop platter: 7.3/10
- Pork belly 7.5/10
- Jerk chicken (with dirty rice)
- Pepperoni pizza 7.2
Sweatshop platter (Popcorn prawn, Korean fried chicken, roasted cauliflower, jalapeno rice ball, truffle fries, cheesy garlic pizza bread) :
All of the components were executed nicely. I would say my favourite of the bunch was the roasted cauliflower. I loved how it just just jam packed full of spices and flavour, the cauliflower florets were also nicely roasted which provides an amazing crispy texture.
Pork belly (with tamarind glaze cauliflower puree, candied cashews) :
The pork belly was not amazingly soft and did require a bit of a bite. However it was definitely not dry or overcooked. The pork was nice and crispy on the outside as they did a really good job with the sear. Pork had a nice smoky and porky flavour which worked really well with the other elements on the plate.

The kind of place you want to be on a nice, sunny day. Good selection of beers on tap. Food was spot on. Would definitely return on my next visit to Auckland!
Great! Love this place
We had a Hens party here and it went very well. The food and service was excellent. Would recommend this place big time.
Dj on at 9pm but didn't stay that long to enjoy. Looking at coming back in April.
It was good had my niece 21st there it was awesome catch up with my brothers and sisters the staff and thank the security guard help my sister to guide me in the car thank you.
Customer service was not that great! Food was on the low greasy side for the price, their cocktail hour was pathetic because they had chosen what cocktail was on the happy hour and the food and service took forever my stomach started speaking in another language
We celebrated my partners 30th birthday in October on a Friday night in Sweat Shops Velvet Room (private function room) and let me tell you, what a bloody awesome night! Booking process with Belinda was stress free, could not have had a better person to help plan our function. Customer service from both her and the team (bartenders and waitresses) were 100/10. Food was beautiful. A lot of our guests were blown away with the actually event space and the food. I had alot of guest stop drinking to eat all the pizzas, so to the chefs thank yous so much for putting together the best spread. Can’t recommend this place enough and look forward to hosting more events at Sweatshop. Beautiful people and beautiful space, definitely will be back so thank you!
Great place and there are enough seats for many people.
Food: Great generally with good presentation. Fries are a little disappointing.
Service: Friendly staff and well prepared for the guest. Important things were well informed.
Environment: Great indoor and outdoor option.
Great atmosphere, staff were so nice and one in particular helped me get out of a disastrous situation - thank you again! You're amazing.
Look I normally love sweatshop, and would chose to go there for a dance rather than any other spot in town. I went last night for my birthday celebrations with some of my friends and we had taken seperate ubers, we were not intoxicated but a few of my friends had taken some drinks in the uber which were then disposed of when we arrived in the bin across the street. The bouncers turned my friends away on the premise that there is a rule that people that do that are denied entry and this is a common rule for bars in AUK. While this is not something we have ever heard of, nor was it displayed anywhere online, or outside the bar. The bouncers then explained they have to be strict on this because of their manager. I was quite upset at this point due to it being my birthday and I just wanted to have a good time with all of my friends. While standing outside near the bouncers with my friends, the bouncers proceeded to let three other groups in that had done the exact same thing despite being ‘strict’ on this the bouncers had their back turned to people and so they let them in and were making no effort to stop anyone else. The bouncers would not let my friends in despite us not knowing the rule, nor having any means to learn it prior. Hope that someone can address this unfairness because I don’t wish for my experience of sweatshop to happen for anyone else.
Popped in two weeks ago for the chicken n waffles event done the first Saturday of the month.
Simple but done really well. The chicken was so tasty, moist and coating just the bees knees! The accompanying maple syrup was awesome along with the buttermilk waffles.
If you can, get in there and fill ya boots!
Had a private event there
Area was cordoned off at one side then when we were having speeches etc we had so much public interrupting but going to the toilet area.
Drinks are watered down - some of us had around 15 drinks and were not even tipsy… for a venue to require such a big cost or bar tab i would say we def didnt get the moneys worth.
Only bonus was really just the music and the nibbles that they provided.

We held a private event at Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen and we adored it! The service was flawless. The team went above and beyond to make sure our event was a success. Their attention to detail, cocktails, snacks & coffee were all impressive. We will definitely be back!
