Sensational evening for my sister’s hens night. From start to finish, the process of booking the function, right down to the manner of the staff on the night, was nothing short of exceptional. We’d all like to extend a thanks to Mark, James and Krystle for making the evening so special and giving us room to celebrate. Loved it! Cheers Team!

I waited in line for about 15mins, a young 20 something behind me called over, you acknowledged her. Prior to serving me - you poured x3 shots and you allowed your friend to purchase her drinks, ignoring me and other patrons who were line.

I asked you if she was in line? You nodded yes and I responded yes- but she was behind me. You ignored me, so rather than have you ruin my night I asked for a fruity flavoured shots please which you proceeded to make x3 Godfather you thought our order was done and shoved the Eftpos round to pay. Shocked I said we haven’t finished yet, I asked for a bottle of Luna Pinot Noir, x2 Jugs of Beer.

The x2 jugs of beer had about a thumb length of foam which you slammed on the bar causing the beer to spill, at one point I asked if you were okay - you nodded.

The bad customer service continues when I asked for glasses to drink the beer prior to leaving for our table and you said you didn’t know if we needed it?

Wow.in the 20yrs my husband and I have been out and about in Aotearoa we have never been treated which such disrespect, thankfully we are grown adults and decided not to allow your actions ruin our evening or provoke us into a response.

My family and I have spent a lot of money at this establishment over the years from booking private events, farewells or a casual lunch. Can I please ask that management look over the footage that night and show staff how not to treat paying patrons regardless of gender, age or race we should all be treated with respect.

Was in for a birthday dinner and everything started really well. Drinks and food was pretty good but the customer service was a let down.
I had asked for loaded fries but got given normal side of fries. When I brought it up with one of the waitresses and told her what we ordered she replied with well there was no "loaded" fries on the docket. She didn't care at all and had attitude like it was our fault someone messed up our order.
Its something small but its just way she dealt with it was surprising and rude.

The first lady we dealt with though was super kind - wish I got her name cause she was the only nice one there.

Also don't advertise $25 jugs if you're not going to serve them - we got the excuse that they are owned by joylab and the deal no longer runs.

This place is a joke.
I am not a person to write a review, especially not a negative review - but my experience at this venue was truly bad and horrible. Worst venue ever - I would suggest to avoid at all costs. I would give negative two stars if it was possible.

Awful service. We booked a room there, everything was nice till moment we have to leave. We spent decent amount there for 20 people party.
At the end some female appeared and told us in rude manner, that we shall leave immediately. She was so disrespectful. I don’t know how we deserved this attitude. Don’t recommend to make any events here if you want at least regular service

Band was pretty good, lovely atmosphere, however ordering drinks is a nightmare. Having to wait 25 minutes for someone to help is really ridiculous especially when the bar staff are taking orders from the people physically behind you. Not somewhere I would go back to personally.

Initially when booking for the nights leaving drinks for a workmate the Staff were very friendly.
On the night, well I know they were busy later on but in the beginning bar staff were surely. If ya don't like serving drinks get another job.
At 9.00 a bouncer came around and and told us we had to remove hats and caps. What is wrong with them? We were on the deck in winter. He took no heed of the fact my part was quite debilitated still from cancer treatment and operations. Do they not know that a lot of your bodies heat dissipates through your head. He could or would not show where it was a written policy or were we told of this at the beginning of the evening and why particularly 9.00.

We won't be going back.

One of the best bars in Auckland city, amazing staff that never make you feel left out definitely one of the best places for great music, beautiful food and yummy drinks.

I hired out the Velvet room for my birthday event and it was everything I expected and more! Staff are super friendly, we had an awesome bartender and the venue was just perfect & intimate. Phoebe was great at assisting on the night with small things such as lighting and music, and Belinda was amazing at sorting behind the scenes and ensuring everything was smooth for the day to come. Definitely recommend for your event, you will not regret!

We had our joint birthday party at Sweatshop and it was an amazing time! They have a great team who look after you before the event and make everything super easy. There are also heaps of different function spaces available which makes it easy to have something that suits you! We also had some food which was fab - great platters! Thanks team!

I really loved this bar and the music, we had a great night after we were eventually let in. My friend and I had ventured over from Sydney for our 30th birthdays. This was the beginning of our evening. The security guards were nice and pleasent and let us in. The Manager (I think he was Scottish). The short mousy-blonde man.then started screaming after us and chased us down the entrance and yelled over and over again that we needed a NZ id. We replied that we were Australian and didn't have NZ id. Keeping in mind that we are 30. We (attempted) to ask if we should go get our passports as our hotel wasn't far away, where he continued to scream (literally yell) at us to "get the F* out" repeatedly. I was loathe to go back because of this, but our friends were inside so we went back to get our passports and came back. Once again, the bouncers were lovely and we showed our passports and we all had a bit of a laugh about it. The same short man then went inside and whispered to all of the bartenders in front of our faces. We were getting served at the time, then after this whispering, the bartender just turned away from us with no explaination, then another girl tried to assist us and the whispering continued. We got one of their attention and showed our passports once again. The male bartender then apologised and said they had spoken to the front and we were (now) okay to be served. The female bartender then also apologised and once again, they were really friendly. The manger was a coward and LITERALLY RAN AWAY from us and avoided us all night, pretending not to see us. For such a fun venue with live music, your Manger.who also is NOT from New Zealand might I add, really needs an attitude check. I understand you need to check that everyone in your venue is legally allowed to be there. We appreciate that. However, perhaps approaching us calmly, explaining the situation and when we asked if our passports would suffice, perhaps listening? Perhaps not screaming like a banchee? An apology wouldn't have gone astray either. Other than that - as others have said, I was convinced that there was no alcohol in our drinks at the time which seems to be a common occurence here. Basically we paid $20/drink for Red Bull and lemonade.live band was great though and we didn't wake up hungover so they were the positives.also liked that the doors were open as well so there was a breeze and it felt a bit spaced out.

Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen hosted our work Xmas party for 20 people in one of their private rooms. The sit-down meals were great and choice of drinks good. Tap beer was unavailable in the room, but was easily accessed from the main bar. Bar staff were very friendly. They also organised a TV (with sound from speakers) to connect to a laptop for a presentation which was good.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, great night out, would recommend!

This place never fails to deliver no matter the occassion. Every event and occassion we have celebrated/attended there has been an amazing time.

Reliably good, spacious, nice atmosphere and efficient service. Good for big groups but you definitely want to book
