Egmont Street Eatery

We came in for dinner last night and the menu was fantastic. The crudo was my absolute favourite with the flavours balanced beyond perfection but I also loved the gnochi. My partner ordered the tartare which I'm not normally a fan of but this version was great and very clever. The atmosphere, service and overall experience was just delightful with the team being more than helpful especially with our dietary requirements. Will be back soon =)

Great attention to detail - music, vibe, attentive service and exquisite breakfast

I hadn't been to Egmont Eatery for a while and noticed the interior decor and layout had changed which looked amazing. The service was top-notch. I can honestly say that it's one of the best attentive restaurant service that I've ever experienced in Wellington. The waitering staff were friendly, helpful and able to answer all of my questions about the menu and food options, which is how it should be.
The food was incredible. We started with the comte (cheese) souffle and focaccia bread, which was very different but amazing. For mains we had the grilled octopus, spiced lamb ribs with a side of asparagus. You could see how much effort had gone into each of these dishes. They were all delicious and the asparagus was perfectly cooked.
For dessert we had the poached pear. This was probably our least favourite dish of the night as the pear was quite firm. I was expecting the pear to be a lot softer and easier to cut into and it would've been great if it was accompanied with a yummy caramel/butterscotch sauce.
I'll definitely be going back there.

Didn't love the potato hash with soft egg, cabbage and sausage. The cabbage was the best part and yet very little in the dish. Presentation was not appealing and if you dine alone you are not made to feel welcome. At least that was my experience. I've eaten all over Wellington and this was one of my least favorite places. Cute spot in an alley by Avis rental.

Not a huge menu but different and definitely tasty. My wife's gluten free fish was recommended. The Pork Belly was more filling than expected, the smoked potatoes with the puree and sip was Devine.

The food was pretty average. I had read lots of good things but it didn't live up to expectations. The Hash Potatoes with thai sausage and cabbage - not very inspiring. Carby but nothing else.

A great breakfast on a rainy day. The slow eggs are superb and all other food was as well.
This place is known for good food but it was the first time I had been there and was not disappointed.

Really nice decor and the corn bread was delicious but the service was incredibly subpar and food was very expensive considering portion sizes and ratios of ingredients. I ordered house beans which came with Avocado and two eggs as a side (an extra $7) and when my food arrived there was one measly half a slice of avo. My partner also ordered the potato hash with sauerkraut, paid $7 for extra sausage and it didn't even come with sauerkraut. Was difficult to get seated for food (they had been busy but we sat at the bar, got coffee and were pretty much ignored until we got up and grabbed menus and asked about a table again). Waited almost an hour for food, would have gone somewhere else had we been informed of wait time. Won't be returning.

Best waffles I’ve had in a long time. The raspberry mascarpone was delicious. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and clearly very accomodating to dietary requirements.

Looks like being attractive is a prerequisite in the hiring process! Haha lovely service from all the staff.

One of the best meals we have had for along time we had the "Feed me chief" for 2 delicious from the raw fish, stracciatella cheese, panfried fish it was all 10/10 and great service

Really disappointed with the management and professionalism of this supposedly wonderful restaurant. I booked and had a confirmation for a booking on the 11th November 2022. We arrived to find a closed restaurant. No notice. Disgraceful.

Fantastic experience thanks Jono. Food and wine were left to him to choose for us and we were blown away. What a wonderful first choice of dining for us in wellington. Thoroughly recommend this to everybody. We will be back.

Thanks for looking after our dietaries without any fuss; AMAZING. We had a fabulous meal, enjoyed knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff (thanks Johno for the wine tips) and generally making our evening one to remember!

Wow outstanding dinner, highly recommend the set menu to try something you’d never pick like the cabbage main! Even though we had two fire alarms during our dinner the staff never flustered and ensured everyone had a 10/10 experience.

This is easily one of the best places to eat in Wellington. The food is innovative and sublime. The staff are amazing and provide the best service you could wish for. Wine matches are perfect and their level of knowledge outstanding. Cannot recommend highly enough.
