KK Malaysian Restaurant reviews
70Beautiful food and a good price. A good place for a quick meal - they serve quickly even when busy.
So yum. Front of house recommended either the rendang or the laksa. Super generous portion (meat to rice ratio on point). Fragrant, and hearty. Will come back to try the laksa.
The Hokkien Mee came out quickly, was delicious and great value. Great atmosphere and service too.
Foods are full of wokhei.very authentic Malaysian food. Kids were surprised at how fast the service is. Happy dinner.
I’ve been eating there for 20 years. Quite simply the best Malaysian in Wellington, and I think in NZ
You come here for well priced, good quality food and especially if you are after a good rendang. Always busy at lunch time.
Their Malaysian roti is my absolute favorite! Also would recommend Kung Pao chicken. Sadly, over the years the quantity has decreased with the increase in price.
I've never been to Malaysia, but I'm sure it's a poorer place for losing the folks that run this restaurant. Their loss is your gain. Go stuff your face, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing vegetarian food and served so quickly! The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the dish had so much flavour. And great service!
Decided to try this place after reading the reviews. I ordered nasi goreng. It was made out of frozen veggies and had no flavour! My husband ordered veggie mie goreng. He said it was fine.
A tremendous recommendation from the desk clerk at Able Tasman hotel, sent me to KK Malaysian Restaurant near corner of Cuba and Ghuznee St, in Wellington.
Very good Seafood Laksa, with prawns and mussels and nice and spicy, plus a side of Wontons. A value meal at $14 for the Laksa, and $8 for Wontons.
Food is wonderful, the people working there are really kind.if your in wellington or Auckland I consider having this for dinner or lunch
Was OK. Does not live upto the hype. Food somewhat bland, no drinks, very cold and drafty, not a nice place to sit in. Uncomfy.
Ingredients used are cheap and not up to scratch. Compared to places in Auckland that charge similar but have better taste and quality.
Cheap, dependable, and fast. The Kung Pao chicken is out of this world, and the standard Malaysian and Nonya dishes are reliable. KK is a major part of Wellington's long standing Southest Asian culinary world, and always a great lunch.
Cheap, big portion and tasted good. Not the best laksa I have had (probably because I cannot forget the truly authentic Laksa when I was in Malaysia) and not the best atmosphere restaurant but good price decent foods.
I have not been to KK for years but decided to go there as we are craving for curry laksa and heard that they serve best curry laksa in town. When we arrived, they were pretty busy with takeaway and we decided to wait until the counter was cleared and approached the lady to ask for table of 2. Then, she pointed us to sit in a table that has not been cleaned and we just waited near the table firs hoping that it will be cleaned straight away. However, she said that we can sit down first then she would clean the table when she “had the time”. We followed her instructions and took a look on the menu that she gave us. While I was reading the menu, she stood beside me and she said excuse me while pointing at the dirty glasses on the table. I have not been asked like that when I dined in restaurants so I was pretty confused at that time. Then, the guy wiped the table for us (the lady also wiped our table after that and we told her nicely that the guy has wiped the table), gave us water and took our order. We ordered 2 curry laksa (+ roti) and specifically ordered one with less noodle. Then, the lady served the first laksa and we asked whether the laksa that she served was the one with less noodle or the regular one. However, we did not hear her response as she either mumbled or spoke in a very low volume and she just walked away. Few second later, the guys served us another laksa then we asked him that which he had to confirm with the lady. Then, the lady replied that she already told us that the laksa that she served was the one with less noodle.
The food were decent and the guy was quite pleasant but after the service that we got from the lady, we will never come back to KK anymore.
A cheerful classic of wellington. Essentially unchanged since the dawn of time. Seafood Laksa is comfort food I’ll come back to again and again.
Friendly and attentive staff. Authentic flavour. Beautifully made food. Only have limited seating.
